Project 1: Objective:
Create a box with tight fitting lid out of Bristol Board. This was a fun project. My summer of working at Little Caesar's really paid off because I knew how to keep a cardboard box together without using any adhesives or fasteners. So I challenged myself by designing my box so that the lid was not just another half of the box and identical to the bottom. I thought that moving the opening of the box to one of the corners or shifting it to the edge would create such challenge. The corner opening I found was too unstable to be quality. |

Project 2: Objective:
Create a garment out of paper, any paper. I was inspired by a package of ruined toilet paper under my bathroom sink that had gotten wet and became a very solid brick. I decided to use toilet paper, but how to get it wet and then dry so that it stayed in one piece? We all know how easily toilet paper tears when it gets wet. What i ended up doing was laying down strips of toilet paper on a towel, overlapping them by about 2". I then got these areas whee they overlap wet, then carefully ironed them dry by quick touches of a hot iron. I did not start "pressing" the toilet paper until it was almost dry. miraculously it all stuck very strongly. However, apparently I didn't do enough research so I scored a 9/10 on this project. |
