August 1999 Ramblings                                                                                                                             October 1999 Ramblings

Bill Albert, founder and Fearless Leader of UNIT, issues a statement each month describing his feelings on the state of Doctor Who fandom in Iowa. He calls these messages his "Ramblings".

Here is his message for September 1999

From The 9th Doctor:

EXILED IN IOWA:
Well, we are only a few weeks away! Still looking forward to meeting so
many of you and enjoying the get together. We have already discussed a
return engagement, perhaps "EXILED IN IOWA EPISODE 2" but any decisions
will wait until after the 9th.

EXILED IN IOWA ANNIVERSARY:
On October 9th, 1965, the Doctor Who Episode "Mission To The Unknown" was
broadcast. It was the only episode of the series that neither the Doctor
nor his companions appeared. It's cool we are getting together for out own
special event 34 years after that special event. Considering this is the
first time we've done this the title is pretty appropriate, too. *wink*

EXILED IN IOWA SWAPMEET:
We were thinking that this could be an all day thing. If somebody has
something they are interested they should go a head and contact the seller.
If anybody is looking for anything in particular feel free to go a head
and send it to the list. Some people, myself included, have a fairly good
sized collection and may have what you are looking for but have either
forgotten or don't plan to bring it to the meeting.

EXILED IN IOWA CARPOOLING:
There are several people coming from or through the DesMoines area, two
from Decorah, and others from different parts of the state. If anybody is
looking for a carpool go a head and do a list post for it.

FRONTIER IN SPACE/PLANET OF THE DALEKS:
As stated Friday this is Roger Delgado's last story as the Master. Sadly,
he was killed in a car accident on a movie location not long after
finishing. It was also the last appearance of the Master for 4 years. He
wouldn't be heard from again until Tom Baker's Deadly Assassin.
I always thought Frontier In Space and Planet of the Daleks should be
considered one story. The connection between them is pretty strong without
even a TARDIS trip going from one to the other.

DOCTOR WHO MOVIE:
There has been a considerable increase in the rumors concerning the
production of a Doctor Who feature film. Some names are being tossed
around from the producers of "Event Horizon" to the people who brought you
"The Blair Witch Project." Also talk of a casting of Paul McGann or
Patrick Stewart as the Doctor. For the most recent and accurate news
