Frank Hammes Frank Hammes
This old photograph was found in the publication of Faces and Places of Grant County. I contacted the submitter of this photograph and verified that Frank Hammes is the 3rd man from right in the photo. Frank Hammes was married to Nettie Dolphin (daughter of John and Rebecca Dolphin). I can't confirm this is the same Frank, but the location and time period coincides with Netties' age and marriage location Nettie married a Frank Hammes on Feb 17,1897 in Glen Haven, around his 1896 band playing days. The second photo is Frank Hammes with his siblings.
Frank with siblings belonged to Marilyn Hammes. The band photo was contributed by Verna Fralick

Marilyn Hammes Marilyn Hammes
Marilyn Hammes was the only daughter of Howard Hammes and Monica Holzmiller.

Personal note: Unfortunately, I didn't hear of Marilyn passing away until about 7 months after her death. Through a miracle, another distant relative (Jeanette Zimmer) found and kept a scrapbook of news clippings and one photgraph album. I was able to obtain these belongings from Jeanette and am most grateful.

Unfortunately, since Marilyn was an only child, many of her personal belongings including photos were discarded. Needless to say- great genealogical treasures lost. Prior to her death I had scanned copies of some photos she had lent to me and was able to rescue some in that manner. However, I am certain it was not all of her photos. Sadly, some mysteries of the Dolphin line were lost upon her death.

The brief visits I had with Marilyn, she came accross to me as being a very kind, generous, and intelligent woman. She was also very trusting. I thank her for allowing me to borrow some of her photos and scrapbook prior to her death, to preserve some of the legacy of the Dolphin line and of her life. God Bless.
