He was a witness to deeds of David PRUITT.

In Old Craven Distr, SC, in 1777. Was listed in Edgefield Distr, SC, as early
as 1786. He bought 311 acres on Hen Coop Creek in Pendleton Distr, SC, (now
Anderson Co, SC) on 8 Jan 1795. This land is 11 miles southeast of Anderson,
South Carolina, on the road to Honea Path, South Carolina. In 1838, the heirs
of Dudley sold this land.

On February 11 1799 Dudley Pruitt of Ninety Six District sold 150 acres on
Tyger River to Absolom Posey for 40 pounds. This was part of a tract
originally granted 9 June 1775. Witnessed by: Walter Thomson, Sarah Pruit, Sr.
and Sarah Pruit, Jr.

He was listed on the 1800 census of Pendleton District, South Carolina.

The will of Dudley PRUITT was written in Pendleton District, South Carolina,
on 30 Oct 1794, and was probated in Edgefield District, SC, on 26 Apr 1803.

On 27 Dec 1838 the heirs of Dudley PRUITT sold the 311 acres on Hen Coop Creek,
SC. Signing the deed were Austin PREWIT, Dudley PREWIT, Stephen BENNETT,
Micajah PREWIT, John PREWIT, and Elizabeth PIERSON.

Children are Mary Jane, Lemuel (b. 12-12-1814), Joel (b. 1-30-1818), Melinda
(b. 9-20-1821), Lucinda (b.10-15-1889), Berry (b. 2-12-1826), Elisha (b.
1828), Ransom (b.3-15-1830), Isabell (b.3-15-1832), and Caroline (b.9-10-1834).

Pruitt Family Cemetery: Section 8: From SR 42 at Little Point, go north 1
mile. Turn left and go 1 mile to farm line on the right. Go .3 mile, cemetery
is 400 feet in the woods on a hill. Grave markers registered at Morgan County
Public Library.

Eli was a farmer and a stock-raiser reared to honest farm toil and was
self-educated. He acquired over 200 acres and a farm. He had two sons and four
daughters. He was a licensed minister of the Christian Church and had large
revivals.

Served in Company H 16th South Carolina volunteers during the Civil War.

! Killed by falling barn.

Served in Company D 16th Regiment South Carolina volunteers. Killed at the
Battle of Adams Run during the Civil War.

Elijah was living in the household of Abel Eaves in Marengo County, Alabama, in
1830. He moved to Sabine Parish, Louisiana, by 1840, and to Trinity County,
Texas, by 1860.

Dec 28 1854, Greenville District, South Carolina, final settlement of Elisha's
estate.

Enlisted at New Albany 13 Jun 1846 as a private in Co. B, 2nd Indiana Infantry.
He was captured by Mexicans and reported killed. Later he returned to Texas
and received bounty land for service in Mexican War (#8784-160-47).
New Bethlehem Church, Mentor Cemetery, Mentor, Indiana, is located on SR64
and CR1025E. Elisha is buried at Row 7 Section B.

with an Uncle Palmer.

! When returning home on foot from a neighbor, Elizabeth was met by a negro
man who told her that her house was on fire. Running home and from the
excitement, she gave premature birth to her first child causing death of both
mother and child.
