On November 13 1788 Shadrach Pruett of Surry County bought land on waters of
Dan River, grant of 13 October 1788 to Lazarus Tilly, from Lazarus Tilly of
Surry County for 33 pounds, 6 shillings, 8 pence. Witness: Jessee Knighton and
Aaron Sizby.

In the Goucher Baptist Church minutes, Union County, South Carolina: Friday,
November 17, 1815: "In Conference A Charge laid in by Brother Shadrick Prewett
against Brother William Spencer, the said Shadrick Prewett says that he sold
William Spencer a Horse beast for Forty dollars and took a note on John Kiger,
and that the said Spencer Said that John Kiger was as good as the bank and if
he the said Kiger wanted he was and the said Spencer has never paid the said
Prewett one Cent for the Horse. Jn Lipscomb CC"

Snowden was listed on the 1790 census of Spartanburg District, South Carolina,
with 4 sons and 1 daughter and on the 1800 census with 4 sons and 4 daughters.

Snowden moved to Greenville District, South Carolina, by 1810; and was
mentioned in the 1818 Land Grant in Greenville District. On Dec 13 1849 the
heirs of Snowden Pruitt sold 100 acres on the Tyger River in Greenville
District.

He was married to Elizabeth Higgins in 1855.

Spencer must have been illiterate because he signed his will with an "X". He
owned a plantation in No. 11 Township of Cleveland, North Carolina. He was a
memeber of Pisgah Baptist Church of Casar, North Carolina, where he and his wife
are buried in an unmarked grave.
