Engine CO. 13 was placed in service in 1998 to protect the growing population in southeast Durham and to respond to parts of the recently annexed Research Triangle Park (RTP). Station 13 is the home of the hazmat team. Engine 13 also covers Interstate 40, a major thoroughfare between Durham, Research Triangle Park and Raleigh. Engine 13 has a full complement of Hurst extrication equipment on their rig. Station 13 is also within five miles of Raleigh Durham Airport (RDU).
