OPENED 2006

Engine 16 opened in October 2006 to help cover the most southern part of Durham. Station 16 covers numerous large homes and large apartment complexes. Station 16 also covers several shopping centers including South Point Mall. This mall is the largest mall in central part of the state. Station 16 also covers parts of Interstate 40.
Station Sixteen is also home to Durham Fire Department's USAR Team which is part NCTF Team-8.
NCTF - 8 is made up of teams from Durham FD, Raleigh FD, Cary FD and Chapel Hill FD.
Engine 16 also has a mutual aid agreement with the Town of Chapel Hill.
