Edith Grace Williams

Father: Williams
Mother: Grace [---]
Birth: ABT 1917 Danbury,Fairfield Co.,Conneticut
Death: 1989/1991 Port Charlotte,Florida
Notes:
There are several entries in the SS Death index that could be her. The most likely is: Edith Rice, 264-05-1994 (FL), b. 29 Jun 1917, d. 4 Apr 1988, last residence: Miami, Dade Co., FL 33126. Others are: (2) Edith Rice, 045-14-8740 (CT) b. 24 July 1914, d. Sep 1990; (3) Edith Rice 047-14-9722 (CT) b. 9 May 1900, d. Oct 1991; (4) Edith Rice 104-09-6311 (NY) b. 5 Mar 1913, d. July 1989.
Ralph Rice (her son) reports that her birthday was July. He also confirmed that the second entry looked like the right one.

    Grace

    Birth: ABT 18 NOV 1882
    Death: APR 1971 Stamford,Fairfield Co.,Connecticut
    Notes:
All that is known for certain is that her name was Grace. However, the following Social security death records exist for Grace Williams in Connecticut:
    1. SS# 041-10-2010. B. 18 Nov 1882, D. Apr 1971 in zip code 06903 (Stamford, Fairfield Co., Conn.) 2. SS# 042-36-5400. B. 23 Jul 1914, D. Jun 1983 in zip code 06610 (Bridgeport, Fairfield Co., Conn.) 3. SS# 049-05-1308. B. 10 May 1921, D. Aug 1981 in zip code 06111 (Hartford, Hartford Co., Conn.)
Of these, the first looks plausible.
Ralph looked at these, and said the first looked plausible, but 2&3 are definately not right. He said she was definately born before 1900, and that he thinks she died in Danbury, Fairfield Co., CT. He never knew his grandfather on this side, and never even heard him spoken of. Grace, his grandmother, lived with another man - Ralph didn't know if that was a boyfriend or just housemate. He even wondered if she was ever married. Apr 1971 is a plausible death date for her.
I searched the Danbury CT vital records, LDS films 1435525 & 1435526. There was no Grace born in that town on 18 Nov 1882. So, if that is indeed her birthdate, it is highly likely that she was born somewhere other than Danbury.

    Birth: APR 1008
    Death: 4 AUG 1060
    Notes:
Henry I, King of France (1031-60)
His reign was characterized by struggles with rebellious vassals. Although Henry was crowned by his father, Robert II, his younger brother Robert claimed the throne and was supported by their mother, Constance of Provence. In the ensuing civil war, Henry was forced to cede Burgundy to Robert. Henry at first supported (1035-47) and then fought unsuccessfully against (1054, 1058) William, duke of Normandy. He was succeeded by his son Philip I.

    Father: Charles Martel
    Birth: ABT 714
    Death: 768
    Notes:
Ruler of Neustria and King of the Franks, 751-768.
The first Carolingian King. He deposed Childeric III (751), the last Merovingian king. He supported the extension of papal control and was anointed by St. Boniface in a ceremony of symbolic importance. Again anointed by Pope Stephen II (754), he defeated the Lombards on the pope's behalf. The new papal lands thus acquired were known as the Donation of Pepin. The close relationship between the pope and the Carolingian kings tied papal development to the West rather than to Italy and the East.

    Children:

  • Charlemagne ( 2 APR 742- 814) m. Hildegard [---] , children: 1. Pepin [---] ( 773- 8 JUL 810), 2. Louis I "The_Pious" [---] ( 778- 840).

    Hugh Capet

    Father: Hugh "The_Great" Capet
    Birth: 938
    Death: 996
    Notes:
King Hugh of France from 987 to 996. Succeeding his father as Count of Paris in 956, Hugh Capet thereby became the real ruler of the country, though the title of king still belonged to the Carolingians. When Louis V, last of the Carolingian kings of France, died without heirs in 987, Chalres, Duke of Lorraine, claimed the throne by descent. At a meeting of the nobles and prelates of the realm, however, the crown was declared to be elective, and Hugh Capet was chosen king. He became at once the first French king of France and the founder of the famous Capetian dynasty, which gave to Europe 118 sovereigns.
