      Damnation

rain bows down
in cups and bowls
instant coffee-colored pools.

damn the dam
breaching promises
the stomach aches!

damn the axe
cutting trees and lives
buried in landslides!

damn the greed
breeding man's bedevilment
his charred coal-soul!

In memory of the more than thousand human lives taken by the fury of typhoons Unding, Violeta, Winnie and Yoyong (November & December, 2004 Philippines).  The real culprit was actually the fury of the axe/chainsaw generated and propelled by some greedy, errant loggers.
