25 July, 2001 - Søren's Second Birthday
We were in South Dakota for Søren's second birthday. It was nice to spend his day with my parents. Kieron and I started with a long walk along the river, stopping on the old train tressle to play a round or two of Pooh sticks.
The rest of the day we spent quietly as it was too hot to do much. Fresh flowers brightened the table. And we bought a lovely lemon cake, decorating it with fresh raspberries from the garden. It looked just beautiful. Even Dad had some. And ice cream too.
Over the next few days, two of my dearest friends came to stay. The three of us hadn't been together as a trio for a number of years and as you can well imagine, we had hours of conversation to fit into a few short days. Spending Søren's birthday with them was the best present for me, even though it wasn't even my birthday.
