We woke up early and went to have a nice breakfast at Ramona's - highly recommended. After breakfast, we headed to White Sands National Park. The park was really cool! We played in the sand for a while and took lots of pictures. Jen and Kate even made sand angels.
We finally left our fun at White Sands and headed up towards Albuquerque...and we did indeed take a left at Albuquerque. We followed the old Route 66 for a while and saw a nifty monument (see photo galleries). Eventually we found the Continental Divide...although it was very hard to find in the pouring rain. Needless to say, we think that when the rain hit the line it bounced to one side or the other to continue its journey either east or west.
Well, we finally made it to El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, NM for the night. It (of course) had the neon lights outside - since it is on Route 66. Jen and Rob went touring the strip for a few minutes and explored the neon surroundings.
