We, unlike many other people in Vegas, woke up early and went to see the hard hat tour at Hoover Dam. The hard hat tour was really cool since we got to go in and around the inner workings of the dam. This was Rob's favorite stop of the whole trip. Like all men who have cable, they were comparing notes about the numerous shows they had seen about the dam construction.

We learned about the mascot of the dam, the details of the construction and other interesting stuff. Did you know the dam was completed in three years? Then why is it taking so long for the I-95 construction to be completed?

Needless to say...there were also a lot of "dam" jokes.

As we started heading towards Lake Powell, we drove through and stopped at Zion National Park. The park was very scenic and is one place that John and Kate may like to go back to one day.

We decided that the best place to stop as a midpoint to Lake Powell was Coral Pink Sands State Park in Utah. However, the park was very far from the main road and by the time we got there, the campsites were all taken. We wandered around the park a little bit and Jen and Kate had to make sand angels again. There were dune buggies that could be seen in a distance driving on the dunes.

The decision was made at this point, since it was so late, to stop at a hotel in Mount Carmel Junction.
