Brenda thinks he'll eventually call for her. She wants Jason to tell her, exactly, what Sonny said. Jason answers, "He said to tell you it was a great ride." This infuriates her, she doesn't believe he would end their relationship this way. She then gets the idea that maybe Jason doesn't even know the real story. He tells her that Sonny doesn't lie to him. Brenda is crushed. Outside, Sonny stands in the rain waiting for a glimpse of Brenda. Brenda asks Jason what she should do now? In a really sad and painful scene to watch, she makes it clear that she would gladly crawl through broken glass for a chance to beg Sonny to take her back. Jason again says he'll take her home. "Sonny is my home," the brokenhearted bride replies. Jason tells Brenda he asked Sonny not to make him do this; she's not touched by his sympathy. Brenda gets angry and he tells her he'll take her home. She marshals enough nerve to tell him to go to hell, ordering Sonny's guards out of her way. She pushed past the guards and opens the front doors only to see it's raining. She stands at the doorway, rain sluicing down. "He always leaves me standing in the rain." She collapses and Jason helps her to a nearby chair. Sonny watches as the church doors close, this is his last look at Brenda. She's upset and opens the bottle of champagne, asking Jason to join her in a drink, only she can't even hold the glass because she is shaking so much. It falls to the floor and Jason tries to help but she doesn't want him to touch her. She asks him why he's here and tells him he can go back now to Sonny and tell him his plan went well and that she hates him with all her heart. Brenda also informs him that she doesn't want him there and to leave; he goes but tells her he'll be right outside the door. Once he's gone , she starts thinking back to all the times she's spent with Sonny; From the first time they met at the docks, their first kiss, the first time they made love, their adventures in Puerto Rico, the first time he told her he loved her, the time she was shot at in the shower, the day he found the wire on her and threw her out, when he called her a whore for sleeping with Miguel, Sonny telling her she wasn't allowed in his club, when they kissed outside Luke's after being apart for so long, and when he left her standing in the rain after telling her Lily was pregnant. and flashes back to all the key moments with Sonny over the course of their
relationship: Brenda continues

there. Jason pledged to look out for Brenda's safety, then the conversation moved to this pair's separate futures. Sonny planned to head back to Puerto Rico, Jason informs him of the money he switched over for him but Sonny tells him he doesn't want it because it really is Jason's. They tell each other not to die and then Sonny tells him to let the pilot know he's ready. She opens the door and says thanks for coming. She starts to close the door, she pokes her head out and says I thought I told you I didn't want you here. You work for Sonny, don't you? If I see your face again around here, I will call the police. Mike, there is only one thing left I have to get rid of and she walks over to the counter and picks up her engagement ring and hands it to him. “Here this is yours it doesn't belong to me.” She doesn't want any more reminders of Sonny around. He argues, “But Brenda, he loves you. Something must be wrong.” Brenda doesn’t want to hear it, “Mike I don't want to think of him, I don't care if he's safe or anything else. I am rid of him. The best thing that happened to me was not to marry Sonny. “ Jax rushes off to see her and kicks down the hotel room door when she doesn't answer it fast enough. She hugs him. She pulls away and asks what he knows. He tells her that Mike came to him because he was worried about her. Brenda asks him if he told him that she got left at the alter like an idiot and that Sonny finally showed his true colors. He asks her what happened and she tells him everything, how they were planning to leave and not ever come back. Jax asks her if she knew that she wasn't coming back when she came to see him. From the look on her face he gets the answer he knew. Brenda tells him that Sonny made her believe that was the best way for them to stay safe. She goes into detail about what actually took place the day of the wedding and how Jason came to the church to tell her Sonny had left town. He moves to comfort her but she tells him not to, she wants him to leave. Edward comes by and insists she move into the Q mansion. Brenda tells Edward she's fine but she does accept his offer. He leaves to prepare for her arrival and Jax suggests they go get something to eat. At the mansion, Edward and Alan wait on Brenda, trying to keep her mind occupied. Edward tells her he's having a yoga instructor come to the house. Lila berates him for overwhelming Brenda with activities she hasn't even chosen. Brenda tells Edward she passes on the yoga and when he tries to get her to play tennis she declines as well. Her and Emily have a brief talk about how the other one is doing. Lila suggests Brenda move into the Gatehouse until Ned gets home. This way she'll have the privacy she needs. Brenda is alone at the Gatehouse when the bell rings, its Lila & Emily. Lila says she has a visitor and Lois appears. Lois and the baby are in town to visit Brenda who is surprised to see her. She thought Lois was on tour with one of Lois and Brenda's bands but Lois tells her that Carmine (her father) was having some chest pains and was admitted into the hospital. She assures them that everything though is okay. Lila and Emily take Brooke Lynn from Lois so the two girls can spend some time alone together. Brenda tells Lois how Sonny left her at the alter with everyone just staring at her. She says she knows they all knew something was wrong with their relationship and even deep down she knew it too, but just didn't want to believe it. Brenda calls him a liar and says that Sonny never really loved her. Lois disagrees with her, saying that she has known Sonny most of her life and knows that he loved her. She tells Brenda it wasn't her that failed it was Sonny. Brenda cries to her best friend and says she wish she knew why he did this and how could he hurt her like this. She wants to know when everything changed. Brenda believes she would have seen it in his eyes because that's how she always knew when he was lying to her. Lois tries to make her remember all the good he did for her and tells her to not let that out of her heart. Lois talks about the good she had with Ned and those things that hurt have become less once she just let them be. She tells Brenda she can hate Sonny forever but it would be easier to just let him go. Lois then goes up to the main house to check on her baby and Brenda welcomes some time to herself. Jax knocks at Brenda's door and she has a smile on her face when she sees him. Jax invites Brenda to the movies. She doesn't feel like going anywhere. He's actually brought the movies to her. Jax brings in a popcorn machine, soda machine, and candy stand. The phone rings and it's V. Jax isn't going to the meeting, but Brenda argues, telling him not to insult her by coddling her. He leaves and runs into Lois. They discuss Brenda, who is sitting in the dark, miserable, letting the movie wash over her. Next morning, Brenda starts to have a flashback when Jax knocks on the gatehouse door. She answers it and announces that she is completely over Sonny. Jax is a little skeptical, but Brenda says she is done grieving and had her wonderful friends to thank. The two head out for lunch. Brenda is putting on her boots when the sight of her ankle makes her think back to the night Sonny gave her the ankle bracelet. Jax rings the bell and she is excited to see him. She tells him she is completely over Sonny and is ready to move on with her life. She claims she didn't think of Sonny once today thanks to everyone's support. Brenda asks what he has planned and Jax suggests a drive in the country but Brenda says she would rather do something fun like go out to eat and be around a lot of people. Jax doesn't think it's such a great idea since the reporters will be all over her but this is want she wants to do so they go anyway. Jason, dining at the Outback, takes a phone call from Emily, who was reporting on Brenda's day. Brenda and Jax walk in, Brenda sees Jason on the phone, laughing. Brenda goes over to Jason and demands he hand her the phone. She grabs it, yells into the receiver (thinking Jason is reporting to Sonny). She is mortified to discover he was talking to Emily, she apologizes to Emily and runs out. Jax gives Brenda some time by herself before going outside to comfort her. Brenda feels humiliated and thought she could pretend the whole thing never happened. She doesn't know what to do and Jax says that's why she has him. They embrace and she cries in his arms. At Jax's penthouse he is trying to calm down Brenda. She is really upset for going off on Emily the way she did. Jax talks to her, trying to convince her that she should move back into the penthouse with him in the spare room until she is better. Brenda refuses, she wants to learn to stand on her own two feet. I can't do this to you again. You are doing nothing he says. We are friends. "You know my habits and I yours." Like an old pair of shoes. She says no. She says she can't let him rescue her, she sees she's using him as a drug. She reluctantly agrees and goes up to take a shower. When she was done she put on one of Jax's house robes and plopped down on the couch. A short time later the front door opens, Brenda looks up; its Venus. V comes in and is surprised to see Brenda in the penthouse, clad in Jax's bathrobe. Over at Jax's place, Brenda is trying to explain to V why she is there. V turns and heads up the stairs. She gets her stuff upstairs and heads back down telling Brenda she will just write down everything for Mr. Jax. After some stilted conversation she relaxes, they starting talking and joking around when Jax opens the door and sees this wonderful smile on Brenda's face. She agrees that it was a good idea that she came. Brenda has a wedding flashback, leaves the penthouse, stumbles around in the park, half-dressed. Jax comes down to let Brenda know dinner is ready but she's gone. He runs out looking for her. Brenda runs to the park and when she sees the park bench she thinks of Sonny. She collapses on a bench sobbing. Jax finds Brenda crying and asks what happened. She tells him the picture of the flowers reminded her of her wedding bouquet and from that all these other emotions were triggered. She says she feels truly alone and believes that she always will be. It bothers her that Jax has to see her like this and she feels she can't have him watch her get upset over another man, especially one he totally despises. He reassures her he wants to be there for her. Sonny Returns Spring May 15 - 26, 1998 first :40 mins of Sonny’s return 5/15-5/18/98 Jason is downstairs and there is a knock at the door. They're going to get married, she says. Heartbroken, Sonny thanks Robin for telling him everything. Do you think I was wrong, with everything I did? he asks. Maybe, she says, but I'm not qualified to judge. She then goes upstairs so he and Jason can discuss business. Jason tells Sonny about his conversation with Brenda on the island. It's been hard without you, Jason says. At least you learned how to dress, Sonny replies. Sonny surprises Jason by asking who Michael's real father is. Me, Jason says. Sonny tells him that he knows Jason would never cheat on Robin, so he can't be the biological father. Jason tells him what happened with Carly, AJ and Tony. Sonny reminds him that this makes him even more vulnerable to Carlos. 5/25 Brenda gets up from the couch and puts on the radio, hearing about Katherine's accident.
