Thank you for coming by
to visit today.
Drag up a chair, warm your feet by the fire and have some of
Mother's butterscotch pie or apple stack cake.
This was Mother and
Daddy's retirement home.
They bought a few acres outside town and Daddy remodeled the log
cabin you see in the pic. They were able to live here 20 years
before they received their "dream home in the sky".
The modern, 3 bedroom
home built onto the back of the house was not in sight as you
drove the winding gravel road pass the pond to the house.
From the house, you had a view of the
gurgling creek
and a small pond, complete with huge gold fish
and a turning water wheel.
Next to that was a beautiful field where Daddy planted enough
vegetables
to offer anyone who came to visit.
With a warm fire in the black stove and the smell of Mother's good cooking, their home was a haven of peace and warmth for those who came to visit.
Winter Walk
Oh, the solitude and silence I feel
as I slowly stroll the lane on a snowy, gray day
....flakes of snow drift slowly from the heavens.
Silence is broken
only by the occasional chirp of a snowbird seeking his food
and the crunch of crusty snow under my feet.
Barren trees,
sparkles of ice on the dried beauties leftover from Autumn,
the lonely howl of a dog in the distance....
All tell me that winter has wrapped its chilly arms around us
again.
Then the curls of smoke from
the cabin beckon me to enter,
find warmth at the Hearth and enjoy another
Winter Day.
My Wish for you today
May
your load be lightened, your burden be lifted
And may the Son shine in.
