After months of being kept on the backburner by SCW matchmakers, Mr. Perfect had enough. He felt overlooked as far as title shots, and, further, he was of the opinion that Hunter Hearst Helmsley holding the title was a disgrace, partly because he had never won it in the ring and partly because Perfect had no respect for Helmsley as a competitor. So, he set out to show the world that Helmsley did not deserve his title, first doing so by pinning him decisively in a non-title match, and then turning around in a rematch and doing it again, winning the belt for a fourth time and staking his claim as one of the most dominant SCW superstars of the late '90s.
