This is Act 2 of manga that started the "Sailor Moon" phenomenon. The story progresses much more quickly in the manga than in the anime. Any notes that I make based on the text will be in this colour; these notes are just for clarification and speculation. Enjoy!
The scene opens in a dark castle. A queen looks into her crystal ball, and then begins to speak to her henchman, Jadeite. The queen says, "You still...haven’t found the SILVER IMPERIUM CRYSTAL." Jadeite replies, "Madam...I truly apologize." The queen says, "Our great master has commanded us to collect energy!" Jadeite says "I am aware. As warrior for the Dark Kingdom, I, Jadeite, will not fail you, Queen Beryl!"
The scene cuts to Bunny arriving home from school. Bunny’s mom greets Luna with a "Hi crescent-moon bald-spotted kitty!" and then gets a paw across the face. Bunny tells her mother that the cat’s name is Luna. She then goes into her room and introduces herself: "My name’s Bunny. I’m 14 and in 8th grade. I love eating, sleeping, and relaxing. I guess I cry easily, but I’m a regular, cute girl!"
Luna comes into Bunny’s room and then tells Bunny that she must train harder to fight against the enemy. Bunny refuses to cooperate, complaining that she’s scared of the enemies. Bunny then introduces herself: "Because of this talking cat Luna, I became a Champion of Justice. Oooooh! How annoying!" Luna tells Bunny "We’ve got to find your fellow warriors. Then we must find and protect the princess!" Bunny thinks about Tuxedo Mask and Sailor V, wondering if they are part of her team. Luna says that she may have found the second scout.
Later that night, while Bunny is sleeping, Luna is at the arcade, using one of the machines. She brings up a profile of a girl with short, dark hair. Her profile reads:

The next day, Amy is seen walking around school holding a book and wearing reading glasses. The students around her talk about how Amy, the "Girl Genius", ranked the first in the mock test scores. They comment on how her IQ is reportedly in the 300s.
Bunny sees Amy, and is impressed. She is with Molly, Melvin, and the rest of their friends. Melvin informs Bunny that Amy goes to the cram school, Crystal Academy, which is extremely expensive. Melvin tells Bunny that Amy’s mom is a doctor. Bunny’s other friend (her name isn’t mentioned) says that Amy seems a little snobby. She says, "All she does is study...She doesn’t hang out at all!"
After school, Bunny is walking home, looking at her test scores. [She receives a 52 in English, a 20 in History, and a 10 in Math! x_x] She is worried about her mother’s reaction. While walking, she sees Amy ahead of her. Then Luna suddenly jumps on top of Amy, and Bunny is shocked. Amy says to Luna, "You scared me, kitty. My parents’ll never let me keep you...You’re so soft." Bunny comes up, explaining that Luna is her cat. Amy says, "That’s your kitty...what an angel!" Bunny and Luna are both shocked at Amy’s description of Luna. [Note: Amy’s favourite animal is the cat, so her reaction to Luna isn’t as weird as it seems.] Bunny introduces herself, and secretly hopes that Amy will share her secret study tips. Bunny hopes that she can get better grades by being friends with her. Luna suddenly runs off.
Bunny and Amy walk to the arcade centre. Bunny begins to play the Sailor V game, but quickly loses. Amy stands nearby, watching. (A close up of Amy’s eye is shown, with some white writing inside it. There are numbers framing the close up. I’m not sure what it means, but I think it’s supposed to show how Amy is brainwashed???) Then Amy begins to play, and gets a really good score, ranking first. A pen then drops out of the machine, and Amy takes it. Amy says "I guess I won a prize...It’s a pen." Bunny is very jealous. She says, "That’s sooo cool! NO FAIR! I want one too! Gimme one too! Come on, you cheap machine!" Bunny begins to bang on the game machine. Then another pen pops out, and Bunny takes it.
Amy then looks at the arcade centre’s clock, and realizes she is late for cram school. She tells Bunny that she goes everyday, and Bunny is shocked. Amy says, "I’ve got to study hard...I want to be a doctor like my mom." Bunny is impressed by Amy’s ambition.
At the Crystal Academy, Amy and many other students are using computers and diskettes. The teacher comes to Amy and says, "I’ve got high hopes for you, Amy. We need geniuses like you to build tomorrow’s world. Everyone’s trying to catch you, so keep raising your level." Amy responds, "Yes, ma’am."
Bunny, Molly and their friends are in the Women’s change room. (I’m not sure where). Bunny sees her friend Karrie, who is off to Crystal Academy. Molly says, "Karrie signed up for Crystal Academy." Then someone (either Molly or her friend) says "All the classes use PCs. They give you this disk...they say it’s totally fun to use...I wonder what’s on the disk..."
The scene changes to Amy working on the computer at school. She thinks, "My head feels kind of queasy. I can’t get into this disk method...Good ol’ note-taking feels better." Amy is using her pen that she got from the arcade to write down her notes. Bunny comes into the room and says, "Hey, Amy! What are you doing here? Class is over...why are you studying? Hey, you’re using the special pen! Me, too! Do you wanna go get ice-creams with us?" Before Amy can answer, two students bump into Bunny. They are going to Crystal Academy. Amy remembers how the teacher told her, "Everyone’s trying to catch you!" She then marches out the classroom, without saying a word to Bunny, to go to Crystal Academy.
Luna appears at Bunny’s feet. Bunny tells Luna, "Amy just totally blew me off. She studies way too hard." Bunny then finds a diskette that Amy dropped. Bunny leaves the classroom. Outside on the street, there are people promoting Crystal Academy. Bunny receives a flyer, with a picture of Amy on it. Bunny says, "It’s Amy! On this Crystal Academy flyer!" Bunny reads the flyer, "'NEW! CRYSTAL DISK Feel the Power!’" Luna says, "Bunny, why don’t you study a bit too?" Bunny says, "Me? Uh, no thanks...I’ll pass." Bunny then crumples up the flyer and throws it over her shoulder. The paper hits the man with dark hair and sunglasses again. The man says, "Hey! Don’t litter. Hey! Miss Pig-Tails! Do I look like a trash can?" Bunny recognizes him as the person she hit before in the face with her failed quiz. The man then says, "Did I just hear that cat TALK?!" Bunny and Luna are shocked. Bunny quickly says "Uh...Of course not! See ya later!" and quickly leaves.
Luna and Bunny pass the school again. Luna says, "Bunny, you know that thing Amy dropped? It’s the Crystal Disk...Let’s check it out in the A/V lab. I have a funny feeling." Luna puts the diskette in a computer. Bunny says, "It looks like a normal practice test to me. What’s so special about this?" The computer screen shows nothing abnormal. Bunny then begins to bang on the computer. "There’s probably a hidden message!" she says. Suddenly, the computer screen begins to send out an audio message. The message says "You shall obey...You shall become a slave of the great master...Gather all leads to the SILVER IMPERIUM CRYSTAL..." Bunny is shocked. Behind them, the man who Bunny hit in the face with her test is watching them. He also hears the computer’s message.
Luna and Bunny leave the A/V room, and follow the many students going to Crystal Academy. Bunny sees Amy and exclaims, "Amy’s brain-washed, too?! I’ve gotta help!" Luna says to Bunny "Bunny, use the pen! The pen you got at the arcade! Wave your pen high! Yell out, and morph!" Bunny is really surprised that her pen can transform her. Bunny yells out "MOON POWER!" and morphs into a doctor. She has a cute doctor’s uniform on, with the pen in her pocket and a stethoscope around her neck. Bunny runs into Crystal Academy, saying she’s here on an emergency call. Bunny sees Amy, and tries to wake her up by slapping her (not hard). The teacher of the cram course, who is really a monster, thinks "With this Crystal Disk, I can capture energy! And by using that brilliant girl’s [Amy's] brains, I can take over the city"the entire nation! And the SILVER IMPERIUM CRYSTAL will be mine!"
Bunny runs into the room and tells all the students to get away from the PCs. The teacher says, "Who’s that?!" Luna tells Bunny she must morph into Sailor Moon to fight the enemy. Bunny is not happy about it, saying "I’ve got to fight again?! Oh, nooo!"
Bunny transforms, saying "MOON PRISM POWER! MAKE UP!"
Bunny turns into Sailor Moon, and throws away her face mask. She says "I won’t let you abuse these innocent students!! A CHAMPION OF JUSTICE, I’m SAILOR MOON!! On behalf of the moon, you’re punished!" The teacher/monster throws some papers at her, but Sailor Moon stabs them with her hair ornaments [those white things on her head that show up in Super Sailormoon's costume]. The teacher throws more papers, and Sailor Moon is hurt. She begins to cry, with her cries being amplified by those red things on her buns. Luna says, "Bunny, stop crying! Your shrieks are horrible! You’ve got to help Amy!" Sailor Moon says, "You’re right...where’s Amy?"
The teacher is holding Amy by the neck. The teacher says, "Fool! Why aren’t you brainwashed?! You didn’t use the disk!" Amy, in pain, replies "I don’t need a disk to study...I’m fine on my own! Help! Luna yells out, Amy! Use your pen! Wave your pen high! The teacher then prepares to kill Amy. The pen in Amy’s pocket begins to glow. The sign of Mercury appears on Amy’s forehead, and there is a brilliant flash.
Suddenly, a cold fog surrounds the room. The teacher says, "What’s going on?! My body’s getting colder." Sailor Moon is surprised, saying "Fog?! Luna! Where’s Amy?! I can’t see a thing!" The teacher, however, can see Sailor Moon, and prepares to kill her. Suddenly, a figure appears behind Sailor Moon, saying "Kick her now!" Sailor Moon, held up by Tuxedo Mask, then does a "SAILOR MOON KICK!!" right in the teacher’s face. Tuxedo Mask is holding Sailor Moon. He says "Be careful! That witch is over there!" Sailor Moon is shocked, thinking "Wow! So we meet again!" [There is a "thump-thump", which I guess indicates their heartbeats]. Tuxedo Mask puts Sailor Moon down and says, "Time to save your friend!" and leaves.
The monster spies Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon uses her "MOON FRISBEE!" to finish her off. The monster is sliced in half and is destroyed. Luna comes up to Sailor Moon, holding her face mask and hair pin. Sailor Moon says, "Luna! Where’s Amy?"
The fog begins to clear, and Amy is seen, with a sailor suit on. Sailor Moon is shocked.
Luna says, "Just as I thought...Her genius gave it away! She’s the water warrior...she uses fog...Protector of Mercury...SAILOR MERCURY! We’ve been searching for you! Amy, you’re a Sailor Scout!" Sailor Mercury is also really shocked. She says, "Sailor Mercury?! Me?! A Scout...?!" Sailor Moon is overjoyed. She says, "Amy’s part of our group?! All right!"
