March 27, 2006 - Monday

Sunny and a little cool.

A pretty good day. I stayed up late last night, really late. I went to bed well after 4 but it was nice. This morning around 10 Fumihiko called me and said he was coming home.

We had a nice reunion and then in the afternoon went out for brunch. We went to Jiro. While we were there, Fumihiko decided to go to the doctor office. I asked him to let me off at the mall first.

While I was at the mall I got a couple of small presents for my sister and my friend. I hacked around a bit and didn't see too much that I wanted to buy. It's really sad when I have money, but nothing to spend it on!

When Fumihiko was done, we met and went and had coffee. I found out that my "coffee shop card" was only for buying coffee to take home, not for buying instore drinks. Well, they don't have decaffe coffee, so I won't be using that card I guess. Bah!

We drove out to the big mall and went to Passport, an interior store. We looked around and they had lovely stuff, but not suitable for my friend. Sigh. This present buying is hard. Then, we checked out a new Village Vanguard. I didn't think that this area was big enough for that kind of store. Someone had overdone it on the incense and we were both glad to leave the store a few minutes later. It was too much.

We were going to leave but I realized that we were going to run out of coffee in the middle of the week so we went and got some. At the store, the clerk "helpfully" pointed out that if we went to the other end of the mall with my hubby's store card we could get a coupon to get a discount on the coffee. Instead of asking how much of a discount, my hubby and ME walked to the other end of the mall and got this coupon thing. How much was the discount? 55 yen. Now, pardon me for being a bit of a pain, but fifty-five yen wasn't worth it. Fumihiko maybe happy that he saved so much money, but personally I'd have told the clerk that I'd do it next time and spent the extra!

Even though it was now dinnertime we weren't hungry. We didn't know what to do with ourselves so I suggested going shopping for groceries. We did. We went to a store that we don't go to very often and got some food for the next two days. Yay us.

We came home, put the food away and then we went for dinner. We went to an izakaya. The food was great. We had quite a mixture. Yakitori, eggplant, tofu salad, lamb stirfry and canola-mustard mix. It was especially nice. I was quite impressed.

After dinner we came home and Fumihiko watched The Incredibles. It's a really cute movie. I enjoyed watching it again, even though I was net-surfing and email writing.

That was our day. Fumihiko is supposed to be going to bed soon, but isn't. He's working tomorrow so he really should go to bed. Me, I'll post, read blogs and then go I think.

Oh, hey, this is semi-important! Today is the 9th anniversary of my arrival in Japan. 9 years ago I stepped off the plane in Narita and Japan has never been the same since!

Gotta go! Night.
