Rainy, gray day. Blech.
I slept in today. It was nice! It was also the first time in a couple of days that I could sleep in a bit, so I made the most of it. I had an early bathroom trip, but went back to sleep and was sound asleep. I heard a delivery van pull up outside and I just knew that it was for me. I tried to get dressed quietly so I wouldn't wake up the hubby, but then I realized that he wasn't in bed anyway. He also wasn't in the living room! I threw on some clothes, caught a glimpse of a note on the table that said he'd gone to the doctor, answered the buzzer and accepted my delivery of goods. Yay. Everything arrived and looks in good condition this time. Hurray for that.
I took a shower and just as I was getting dressed I heard hubby come back in. He had been given a shot by the doctor and had a lot of medicine with him. Poor thing. After spending some time together, we decided to go to the Daiichi Hotel for lunch.
We arrived at the mall, and wonders, found a close parking space. Yay. We went into the hotel section and had a nice meal at their buffet. Today was a good day for both of us. They had a lot of food that I could eat. After lunch we visited the dvd store, where I showed Fumihiko one of the cds that I'm interested in getting for Christmas. I've kind of decided this year that I'm going to make a list of things that I'd like for Christmas and then let him pick something from the list and get it for me. Of course if he wants to spoil me and get me all the list, that's okay too!
We went to Uniqlo next where we bought a few things for Van and her children. Uniqlo's stuff is quite nice, and it's reasonably priced. When I first came here and wanted to send stuff for Katie-chan I looked at the "designer" stuff, but it was so very expensive. I couldn't imagine spending 6000 yen on a t-shirt for a baby that would outgrow it in 2 months. I started going to "not designer" stores and got some great stuff. Anyway, because Christmas is coming I don't want to say what I got, but I'd love it if it would fit me! We hacked around a drugstore for a while after that, but only bought a few things. Then, home.
After a couple of hours on my computer, it was time to go to work. When I got there, I cleaned off the table from last Saturday....because of time constraints I'd just finished my lessons and ran... then reviewed the lesson for today. I worried because it seemed too short, so I prepared some more stuff. When my student did come we had a good lesson, and it wasn't too short! It was just about right. The other stuff will get used in a week or so, so no problems.
When my student left I called the hubby to come and get me and found out that he was waiting for me outside my school! I hurried through my paperwork and changed my clothes again. We went for dinner to Jiro tonight. I had my usual, pork saute with garlic oil. It was very good. We came home right after dinner.
At home we decided to watch a movie. I pulled out 3 that I was interested in watching tonight (after finding out what genre Fumihiko was interested in). I suggested either Clueless, Nanny McPhee or The Poseidon Adventure. He picked Nanny McPhee. He made coffee and we settled in to watch the film. Well, the first thing I noticed about the dvd was that it gave you a choice of what language you wanted the menus to be in. What a great idea! I'm tired of having to struggle through Japanese menus, and then struggle through all the language choices(English voices or Japanese- English subtitles or Japanese ones). I wasn't so happy with the two previews that played whether I wanted them to or not, and the "Don't buy pirated movies" public service announcement. Hey, I bought the dvd from a major dvd/cd chain. I didn't pirate the movie, I don't own any pirated movies and I don't like your insinuations buddy! But, I have to say that I loved Nanny McPhee. I read the books a few months ago (under the name of The Collected Tales of Nurse Matilda) and the movie was so well written and acted that it was a joy to watch. The cast...amazing! How many Academy Award nominations/wins are there in that group of actors? Emma Thompson (hubby didn't even recognize her until halfway through!), Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Imelda Staunton, Thomas Sangster, Derek Jacobi and Kelly Macdonald. The writing was sparkling and fun (kudos to Emma Thompson for her brilliant adaptation) and the story was great fun. It had been changed a bit from the books, but it made the whole thing rather more interesting! So, a definite one to look out for. Good family entertainment, and if you're not a family, you'll probably still enjoy it!
After the movie was over we watched some of the extras, then Fumihiko toddled off to bed. I'm thinking of going soon too as I'm a bit tired and I'd like to do a few things tomorrow.
I'll catch you tomorrow. Have a good night!
