Snowy and rainy.
Since today was quite a bad day, I've decided not to write about it, but to do the meme that I was tagged with. I'm sure you are all heaving a huge sigh of relief not to have to read my usual mundane lifenotes!
Six Weird things about me.
I'm supposed to tag 6 people, but I don't really know 6 people to tag. If you'd like to do it, please put a comment in at the bottom. I'll likely crosspost this to my Quiz Blog too.
1) I hate Jack Nicholson. Hollywood falls all over themselves saying how great he is and what a wonderful actor he is. Magazines often say how sexy he is. Please! He may have been a good actor in his earlier years, but he doesn't do much nowadays. He's just "Jack". When he's in a movie I usually don't want to see it. If I do, I am always let down.
2) Mint toothpaste in Canada always makes me gag. So does the cinnamon stuff. I'm not sure why it is, but perhaps the flavouring is too strong? In any case, the toothpaste in Japan is much better for me!
3) I get really emotional when I listen to sappy love songs. I never did before so I think it's a by-product of getting married. When one of "those" songs comes on my iPod, I have to either fast forward it or look out the window and hope hubby doesn't notice the tears in my eyes.
4) I hate vacuum cleaners and telephones. I do vacuum my school on a regular basis, but I don't do my apartment as much as I should. I dislike phones too. When friends ask me to call them I usually ask if I can email instead. I have a little bit of a thing about the phone. For years after I got my cell phone I refused to give out my number to people. I didn't want to be called. I still don't. This may go back to the bank and getting yelled at by people, I'm not sure. Even now, I really have to steel myself up to answer the phone, even if I'm expecting a call.
5) I read once that you are "allowed" to hate 3 people in your whole life. I know who two of my three people are already. There are a couple of candidates for the third spot but I haven't fixed on the person yet. The first person that I hate is from my childhood. She was a bully at my elementary and junior high school. She made my life miserable, and the lives of other people too. The second person is my stepmonster. The woman that married my father after my Mum died. She was an evil person in many ways and I can't forgive the things she did to my sister.
6) I pluck my eyebrows before my classes. When I'm waiting for my students to come, I grab a hand mirror and a pair of tweezers and go to work. My school's lighting isn't as good as my old places, but I make do. I have some surprisingly long and thick hair in my eyebrows!
Now, I'm also supposed to write about 5 things that relatively few people know about me.
1) I snore. Really really loudly my husband says. (I think he snores loudly too.)
2) I read the Bible in less than a year, cover to cover. I went to a Christian University, and although I'm not a Christian, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. It was interesting, but didn't make me change my beliefs. I found the Old Testament to be very depressing, the New Testament was much lighter.
3) It drives me crazy when people are slow counting money. In a former life I was a bank teller and I had to be fast. I was never the fastest, but I did okay. My husband is one of those people who tries to pay by exact change all the time and he takes so long to get the money out of his wallet that I want to grab his wallet and do it myself. He's like an old woman doing it.
4) I really love to dance. The other day I was at Seattle's Best Coffee and the song, "Sisters are Doing for Themselves" came on. It's by Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin. I was singing along and doing a bit of a dance. The guy at the next table was staring at me, and I just gave him a big grin! I miss going to dances.
5) I'm still a little in love with my teen idols. Sometimes I Google them to find out where they are and what they're doing. The last guy I googled was Shaun Cassidy. Sue me!
