June 21, 2007 - Thursday

Muggy all day, then finally rainy.

This morning had a rather bizarre start. I woke up to hear my husband running back to the kitchen. "What's up?" I groggily asked. "It's on fire!" he said. The dunderhead had put the frypan on the stove, turned on the gas and gone to the washroom. There was no oil in the frypan or anything. No harm was done, except the apartment smelt really bad all day and I'm not convinced that this was good for my frypan. It did seem to work okay when I used it for my omelette de jour.

I got myself out of bed just after hubby left today. Sounds great doesn't it? It wasn't. I napped on the couch instead! I had the news on and when the US news came on, taped it so that I wouldn't miss it. I spent most of the morning dozing on the couch before getting up.

I basically had a long and relaxing day at home. That was quite nice. I made some soup in my slow cooker. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll put it away for the night. We'll be able to have some for dinner tomorrow night I think.

I watched Cold Case today and it was one of my favourite episodes. They showed a bit more of one of the detectives I really like; Detective Nick Vera. It was interesting. He is a big guy (played by Canadian Jeremy Ratchford...who until recently wasn't so big and is very hot.) A woman that he used to be in love with ( maybe still is a bit) asked for help finding out what happened to her sister. The writing seemed really true. Both the detective and the woman were full of regrets for things that happened, but couldn't undo time. They were married to other people now and when she suggested they get together for lunch, he said that he couldn't with her. So much was unsaid...and didn't need to be said. Good stuff. For any other Cold Case fans, they'll be starting season 3 on WOWOW next month. Yay!

I took off for the school around 5. It was slow going as it was raining and I had to wear my rain cape. That meant that my peripheral vision was shot, and that every lunatic was out in their car. Argh. I hit the drugstore on the way to my school too. I needed more sweetener.

My class tonight was okay. It wasn't great. I'm not sure if I was in the wrong headspace, or if my student was. Perhaps both!

After I did up my paperwork, washed dishes, and folded my towels. I use real towels at my school for my students. I decided that I'd rather wash the towels then buy paper ones all the time.

Fumihiko picked me up at the school and took me to Marumatsu for dinner. It was a bit of a mistake. When it first opened the food was okay. Not great, but adequate for the money. Now, it's not very good at all. I had gyutan tonight. I got four pieces. Two were fine and two were tough. I had an order of grilled chicken wings, kind of a yakitori thing. It was just cooked. If they'd let it grill about a minute more it would have been quite good, but they didn't. It was a bit blah. Then, when I opened a creamer to put in my tea, it was a little old. It was almost solid. I decided not to drink that tea and opted for coffee instead.

We bought a few groceries at the store nearby, then came home. We had a very quiet evening at home.

So that was my day. Not terrible, but not great either.Tomorrow I'm off to the school earlier so I have to get up. I can do it, right? Sure hope so.

Oh, and remember to check out the meme that I left on the previous entry. If you'd like to try it, just let me know in the comments. Thanks.

Night.
