Rainy, then cloudy.
A day that didn't start well. I can't really go into it here but I woke up much earlier than I usually do, and got up. I stayed up too! I did get to watch the news today which was good for a change.
I did was a really wonderful little movie on WOWOW this morning. I really only planned to tape it for later, but watched it too. It was called The Girl in the Cafe and it starred Bill Nighy and Kelly Rutherford. It was a little bit bittersweet. Why is it that the Brits can make a story about a romance between an older man and a younger woman and have it not seem creepy? And then, to have it be about more than that anyway. It was great. Anyone with WOWOW, keep an eye out for it.
I had my brunch then headed over to the school. I had two lessons today and they both went quite well. They went much better than I thought they would. In the middle of the two I got a break of three hours, so I prepared for classes and I also went out to grab a bit of food. I also started a new book today. A few months ago I was given a copy of Margaret Atwood's Blind Assassin, so I got stuck into it today. It's good. I used to be such a snob about Canadian lit when I was younger. I would never read anything "Canadian", but I have to say Canadian authors are growing on me as I get older.
After my classes finished I got Fumihiko to pick me up. We came home. He went out for beer later and when he came back I started to make dinner. We had soup (which I didn't like much), fried chicken and salad. Fumihiko also had some edamame. He didn't offer me any which I thought was a bit mean, but whatever.
In the evening we caught the very tail end of Vertical Limit and then I watched an episode of Ugly Betty on my computer. It was cute. I'm not sure why it's the huge hit that it is, although I do think that the star is really good. It's a bit like The Devil Wears Prada meeting Square Pegs or something! Still, I only saw one episode, maybe there's more to the show.
That's about it. It's been a quiet evening around here. I'm glad. I have tomorrow off as both of my classes cancelled! It's a bit sad, but on the other hand, I could do with the day off. I'm a touch under the weather at the moment.
