Snowy day.
Thankfully today was a much better day than yesterday.
I went to bed quite early last night because I had a screaming headache and just didn't feel well. When I got up this morning I watched the news and then took a nap. This was only about 30 minutes longer, but I felt better when I got up.
I spent a quiet day at home, until it was time for me to go to my school. It was raining rather heavily when I looked outside, so I wore lots of layers and rode my bike off to my school.
My classes went quite well today. I'd forgotten to cue up a tape in the first class, but I discovered that I hadn't recorded the bit I needed on the tape so I did without. We just read the dialogue. It worked fine! Just before my second class started I looked outside using the monitor and was surprised to see about an inch (2.5 cm) of snow on the fence out there. Yikes. I hadn't checked my parking space for snow in the last hour. However, the next student arrived then and said it was okay, she could still see it.
After my classes I did dishes and changed. I delayed as much as possible, but I finally had to do it. I called my husband. I got his voicemail so I hung up. I decided that I'd try to get home by myself, so I put all my layers back on and went outside. I was a bit surprised to find that the snow was wet and slushy so I could cycle in it, if I was very careful. Luckily, my light still worked, so I set off. I had to walk in places, but I managed to cycle most of the way back to the grocery store. At the store, I went in and got myself a few things for dinner in case we didn't go out and some eggs for tomorrow. I did wonder about the wisdom of carrying eggs in my backpack when I was cycling in snow, but it seemed to work! Just before I got to the store I realized that my phone was ringing. I had to get off to the side on my bike and fish it out of my backpack. Of course it had stopped ringing, so I rang him back. It was my husband of course. When the voicemail came on again, I hung up.
I gingerly got back on my bike after buying my groceries and pedaled off. I got a text message from my husband asking how I was. I replied "not good" and continued home. I had to walk a good portion of the way from the grocery store as the sidewalks weren't as easy to negotiate as roads were. When the sidewalk gave out, I was able to ride on the road and made much better time. I got to our apartment just in time to see my husband heading out of ours. He stared at me, I put my bike away.
We talked a little bit. Nothing too exciting or deep, and then we went out for dinner at Cocos. It was nice. Things became much friendlier. I won't say that things are okay yet, because they really aren't, but for now, friendlier is enough.
We came home and I watched Jamie's Chef. It was interesting and a bit scary for the new restaurant owner.
I'm going to go to bed soon. I feel a bit--feverish?? Pre-cold?? Somewhere/somehow in my school today I twisted my hip or my back. Sitting down is fine, but walking is downright painful. Walking home tonight didn't help. I hope this stops soon! Oh, but the good news is that my neck doesn't seem to hurt anymore. Yay.
That's it for me. Good night.
