Chapter 3
Toruku
Goten was running. Goten could feel whatever was chasing him was pure evil. Every time Goten would try to look behind him, an enormous fireball would almost take off his head. Goten decided to take the offensive. He stopped and faced his attacker. Just as he did so, a fireball hit him in the face and instantly killed him.
Goten woke up sweaty, screaming and kicking off his blankets as he quickly looked around he saw that he was in some kind of bunker. He jumped startled, as Bra put her hand on his head and started to stroke his hair, "Goten it's ok. It's only a dream."
Goten sat up and backed away from Bra, "Where am I? Who are you and what am I doing here?"
Goten was surprised to see Bra start crying in front of him. Bra stared deep in Goten's eyes, "Goten I missed you so much. You are so young and healthy. You remind me of the times before the war, the times before that bastard Toruku."
Goten noticed the hate in her voice as she said the name Toruku. "Who's Toruku? Is he that man that I fought?"
"No," said Bra as she wiped the tears from her eyes, " Sit down and I'll tell you everything."
Goten looked at the woman in her late 30's in front of him. As he looked at her hands he saw scars, and recent battle wounds. The woman in front of me can't be Bra, Goten thought to himself, I saw Bra just yesterday and she was only 5 years old. Goten looked into the woman's eyes, and saw the annoying little sister of Trunks, he had grown to love. There was no doubt that this woman was Bra. Trusting his instincts, Goten sat next to the woman and listened.
Bra smiled and started the story, "After Gokou, my Father and the others defeated Majin Buu, life became simple. Trunks was in college, you were in high school, Gokou was training Uubuu, and as normal, my Dad was in the gravity room training to overcome Gokou. One day an incredibly advanced fighting pod landed on Earth. Of course everyone went to investigate and what they found inside was a Yorkian warrior named, Toruku."
Goten interrupted, "Yorkian?"
"We later found out from the pods records that the Yorkian race was from the warrior race that King Cold commanded. They were intelligent, their skin was completely silver in color, their hair was black and spiky, they had pointy ears, and the ability to learn any attack that they saw. Every time they fought and lived through a battle, not only would they learn new techniques, but like the Saiyians, they would increase in power."
Goten frowned, "So he was dangerous?"
"Not at first. You see without their Emperor the race became savages. Toruku escaped by preserving his body in a deep freeze on his way to a more pleasant planet. He was a great guy and everyone took him in as their own. He was about your age and you two became good friends."
Goten couldn't believe it, "We were friends?"
"Yes, you two actually became best friends while Trunks was in college. You two would do everything together. He was the person to get you motivated in your life. Before then you were lazy, and girl crazed, but amazingly he was just the competition you needed to make you stronger. You became super Saiyian 2 the first time with him."
"So, if we were all buddy-buddy, what happened?"
"Well, this is the sad part. One day you two were sparring near an active volcano when you two accidentally knocked each other out. You had hit him hard before you passed out and sent him flying into the ground. By the time he had regained consciousness, he was just in time to see you fall into the volcano and die."
Goten shook his head in disbelief, "I died?"
Bra stared into his eyes, with obvious pain from calling up bad memories, "Yes, when you died Toruku realized he had nothing to live for."
"So, what happened?"
"Toruku went crazy. Before anyone told him that you could be wished back with the dragon balls, he flew away to the other side of the world and trained like crazy. He split himself in two and fought nonstop for over a 6 months. He convinced himself that Gokou and the others killed you and that he had to avenge your death."
"Did they wish me back?"
"No, they couldn't find one of the dragon balls. Strangely it showed up on the radar, but whenever Gokou went to look for it, it would go somewhere else.
"What happened then?"
"First, he killed the weakest Z warriors, Chaozu, Yamcha, Tien and Krillin. Then, after he learned their moves and was stronger from his fighting, he moved on to the stronger warriors like Piccolo, and 18. After that Gokou, Vegeta, Gohan, Uubuu and Trunks went after him."
Goten interrupted her again, "He killed them," snapped his fingers, "like that?"
Bra nodded, "They were no match for his power. They tried their hardest to fight him and he toyed with them, learned all their moves and then tortured them before killing all of them. Toruku was pure evil, not only would he toy with his opponents, he would also insult them the whole fight.
"Gohan was furious at Toruku for killing all of his friends and most of all Piccolo. As he was insulting Gohan about how easy it was for him to kill Piccolo, Gohan exploded with rage and power and turned super Saiyian 3! But Toruku copied the technique and turned super Saiyian 3 in his own variation. He then used everyone's moves against Gohan and killed him with Piccolo's signature move the Makkensapo."
Goten had tears in his eyes as he heard of his brother's demise. He tried to tell himself that this had not really happened on his Earth but in reality it was all the same. Toruku had killed his brother. Goten hated Toruku and everything he stood for. Bra looked at him with concern. Goten shook his head angrily, "Don't stop. Keep going."
"After this he went and easily killed Trunks by turning super Saiyian 3 and ripping off his head in front of our father Vegeta."
Goten fought the tears from rolling down his face, "Not Trunks. How could he? Where was my dad?"
"Toruku's sick mind said that Gokou had the most to do with your death so he wanted to save him for last. Every time Gokou would teleport to him he would teleport away and hide his ki. Gokou could never find him. Well, one day he appeared at Capsule Corp. while Chi Chi, my Mom, and I were comforting each other and hiding out. He easily ripped through the security and was face to face with our mothers and me," Bra began crying again," I was powerless and had to watch as he tortured and killed our mothers.
"Well, my Dad showed up and fought to the death with Toruku. Father, who had used my mother's brute ray, was super Saiyian 4. Toruku couldn't copy the attack because my Dad didn't have the ability himself. My Dad would have won but Toruku teleported behind him and turned the ray on full blast and hit my Dad with it. My father, Vegeta, exploded with power and died."
Goten looked in Bra's teary eyes, "What about my dad and Uubuu? What did they do?"
"The fight with Toruku and Uubuu was fantastic. They were even in power until Toruku used the brute ray on himself and evolved."
"Evolved?"
"Yes, he evolved into a new being. No one in his world had ever had close to the amount of power that Toruku had. He became much stronger, smarter, faster, had metallic blue hair and glowed a blue aura. Toruku for the first time became a super Yorkian. He easily beat Uubuu and left him for dead."
Goten asked, "What happened to him?"
Suddenly the door opened and the dark man Goten had fought earlier walked in. Goten jumped to his feet and put Bra behind him protecting her, "Stay away from us."
Bra spoke up from behind Goten, "Uubuu, tell him the rest of the story."
Goten's head was spinning, he had only seen Uubuu only once and he looked nothing like he did now. Goten remembered him as a scrawny little kid, but now he was a seasoned warrior. Training with his father and fighting Toruku had really changed him.
Uubuu started off from where Bra stopped, "Toruku fought super Yorkian against super Saiyian 3 Gokou. The fight was incredibly in Toruku's favor. Gokou knew that he couldn't beat the super Yorkian and needed more power. Gokou had to escape to the Capsule Corp. lab and use the brute ray on himself. He became stronger than super Saiyian 4, so powerful his Saiyian body was at it's limits in power. When he was done he smashed the brute ray and returned to fight Toruku.
"They fought nonstop for over 4 months without any of them gaining an advantage. At this time, the time of death for you was almost a year. Gokou knew that if he was going to bring everyone back to life he needed the last dragon ball. In desperation Gokou asked him for it. This was a mistake because Toruku hated Gokou so much that he made him make a deal for him to get it. He told Gokou that the only way he'd give him the dragon ball was for Gokou to become his slave forever. When Gokou refused Toruku teleported away and killed half the population of Earth before Gokou could stop him. Gokou had no choice, and he promised to become Toruku's slave forever."
Goten stared at Uubuu with anger building up inside him, "No, say it isn't true!"
Uubuu continued, "Toruku never kept his promise, because he had never had the dragon ball. One of the dragon balls were gone so you and no one else were ever brought back to life. When Gokou found out about the lie it was seconds too late. By then Toruku and his forces had grown too strong, and they imprisoned Gokou for about 10 years; which was when Toruku became tired of torturing him and destroyed Gokou."
Goten stood up and grabbed Uubuu's shirt in an angry, and threatening manner, "You shut the hell, up or I swear I'll beat you down! I know my dad and he would never, ever become the slave of a homicidal maniac!"
Goten then broke down in angry tears over the information that was just given to him. He looked in Uubuu's eyes and saw no emotion. Years of living in this sick, crazy world made him hard and unemotional. Goten punched a hole into the wall and sat down shaking his head. Uubuu looked to Bra, "Show him the tape."
