 G         Scorer's notation for ground ball (unassisted infield out)
              also  Game 

Game   A contest between two teams which usually consists of 8 1/2 or 9 innings. 

Games Finished  The number of games finished by a relief pitcher. 

Games Started    The number of games started by a particular pitcher. 

GAP  The section of the outfield between the outfielders. Also called alley

GDP/GIDP      Ground into Double Play 

F      Games Finished 

GOOD EYE  a batter's well developed sense of whether a pitched ball is inside or outside of the strike zone. 

go sign   a signal given by a coach that allows a base runner to attempt a steal on the next pitch.

GOPHER      A ball hit for a homerun.

Grand Slam         A home run hit while base loaded. 

GREEN LIGHT      Signal from the coach to hit the next good pitch, or a signal to a base runner that gives the runner the authority to decide when to attempt a steal.

GROUND BALL   a batted ball that rolls or bounces close to the ground.

The Scorer's notation for ground ball is G

GROUNDER      A ground ball.

Ground Rules  Rules appertaining to the field where the game is played, that make allowances and awards and set the number of bases. For example, a ball run into a short right field could be a ground rule double.

Ground-Rule Double  A fair ball that bounces over the fence and out of play or is touched by a fan. The umpire awards the batter/runner two bases, and base runners may only advance two bases.
