Tag-Up Baserunner must return and touch the base he occupied when a hit was made if it was illegal or if a pop fly is caught by the offense When a runner attempts to advance to the next base on a fly ball or pop-up that is caught by a fielder. In order to tag up, a runner must have at least one foot on the base he or she is occupying when the ball is caught. Once the ball is caught, the runner can attempt to advance to the next base, and must be tagged before reaching the base in order to be called out. If the defensive team feels the runner left the previous base before the ball was caught, the defense may appeal the play to the umpire by calling "time" and tagging the previously occupied base. If the umpire determines that the runner did leave the base before the ball was caught, the runner is called out Take Two! an instruction from a first base coach to a batter-runner to continue on to second base on a base hit.
