Illinois 64 is a very important east-west highway spanning the entire width of the state of Illinois. It starts in the west crossing the Mississippi River coming from Iowa along US52, then it crosses the entire state, passes through the north side of Chicago to end at US41 near Lake Michigan.

IL23 departs toward the north in Sycamore

US20 joins from the west
I-290 by Elmhurst
I-294 by Elmhurst, as US20 leaves toward the southeast. (Note: IL64 can only access traffic going toward or coming from the north on I-294)
