Fonts are a great way to have some fun and use your brain on neopets, it is also a great way to start to learn how to use HTML (hypertext markup language or something like that according to those computer geeks I know). HTML is the language of the World Wide Web, and after this short tutorial you can use it too, to make your fonts nice!
There are basic fonts, fonts with a different font face, glow fonts, fonts with a shadow, fonts with a double glow, fonts with a double shadow, and sparkly fonts!
All codes must be opened and closed in HTML is the opening tag for a font. To close any tag you repeat the opening tag with a forward slash before it, is the closing tag for a font.
The following will produce a plain font like you see here.
The size of the fonts can be changed by adding a strength to the font code.This is done by adding s=#, this # can be anything from 1-7 depending on how large you want your font to be. The strength can be applied to a font, glow or shadow. The folowing will produce a font of strength 3.
To bold the font you add the bold tag ""
neoHTML
To make the font have a different font face, choose a font face and place it after the f= to change it. The following will change the font to a size 3, Impact font.
neoHTML
To make a basic font you can simply change the color of your font! This is done by changing the "c" value (this value can be a color name or a hex code- hex codes are more reliable on the web though!) in the font tag. The folowing is the code to change the font to a grey. The one after it will change the font to a dodger blue
neoHTML
neoHTML
To make a font with a glow, you open and close the glow code on either side of the font tag. The following will make a black font with a red glow.
[glowc=red]neoHTML[/glow]
To make a font with a shadow, you open and close the shadow code on either side of the font tag. The following will make a black font with a purple shadow with a strength of 2.
[shadowc=purple s=2]neoHTML[/shadow]
To make a font with a glow and a shadow, you open and close the glow and shadow tags on either side of the font tag. The following will make a black font with a silver glow and a grey shadow all of strength 4.
[glowc=c0c0c0s=2][shadowc=696969s=2]neoHTML[/shadow][/glow]
To make a font with a double glow, you open the glow tag, then open the shadow tag (this will make this glow shadow the inner one), then close your glow tag, then open and close a glow tag on either side of font tag. The following will (in the future) produce a white text, with a silver inner glow and a black outer glow, all of strength 3.
[glow c=blacks=3][shadow][/glow][glowc=c0c0c0s=3][fontc=whites=3]neoHTML[/glow][/glow]
To make a font with a double shadow, you open and close two shadow tags on wither side of the font tag. The following will (in the future) produce a black font, with a blue shadow, followed by a green shadow all of strength 5.
[shadowc=greens=5][glow][/shadow][shadowc=blues=5]neoHTML[/glow][/shadow]
To make a font with a sparkly glow, just add an animated smiley after neoHTML. The following are some of the animated smileys that work on Neopets. I, myself, prefer to use the *cough* smiley. None of my fonts will be shown with a sparkly glow, however if you would like an idea of how they would look if they had one, just try highlighting the text one letter at a time for an approximation. It has also been brought to my attention that clap produces the best sparkle... I have seen no difference in the sparkle myself, the strength of the sparkle depends on the color and size of your glow. Sparkly fonts are much better when they are double glow, that a glow and a shadow. I also prefer to use *cough* since it is teh least distracting (annoying) or the smilies and I also put it in place of my siggy line when my font is applied to my whole post.
*violin*
*clap*
*cough*
*yawn*
*lol*
How to Get Your Font on Your Entire Post!
To get your font to work on your whole post, including your siggy and the siggy line you have to center your message, and move the closing tags to the end of your siggy. In simple terms to make your entire post have a purple shadow you would do the following. This method also works if your font code is too long to fit inside the NeoHTML of your chat preferences.
Put the following code in the text box of your chat preferences.
[shadowc=purple s=2]neoHTML
Then, pur the following at the end of your siggy.
insert siggy here...[/shadow]
How To Get Rid of Your Siggy Line!
To get rid of the siggy line put
- [ at the end of your neoHTML code
- and ] [br] at the beginning of your siggy line.
The brackets won't show up when you post
f you want a space between your siggy and your neoHTML, put this in the beginning of your siggy line instead
If you want you siggy line to still be there, but you wan to use something else, like ~,*____*,~, put it in instead of the instead of the  .
How To Get Your NeoHTML and Your Siggy to Invert Themselves!
This means that your siggy and siggy line will be above your neohtml, it will also allow you to have two siggies if you want or need them.
This is the code for an inverted siggy:
To have your font in it as well, put the following in as your NeoHTML(just remember you have to actually have font values in place to do this, I left them out so that it was not to crowded and was easier for you to see what I meant):
- [glow][shadow]Howdie!![br]-------------------------[br]neoHTML [
Then put the the following into your neoSignature.
How To Use a Font Border!
On my website I have many font borders for you to chose from if you like them. But so there is no confusion as to how to use them, here is a brief lesson.
To have a plain font with a font border copy the code for the border of your choice, and paste it into your neohtml. Here is an example.
╔₪════╗[br]neohtml[br]╚════₪╝
╔₪════╗ neohtml ╚════₪╝
To have a font border with your font applied to it, paste your border into your neohtml, and then place the opening font codes before the border and your closing font codes after your border, like the following. This will work with all fonts, but not with all font faces, your best bet would be arial if chosing a font face.
╔₪════╗[br]neohtml[br]╚════₪╝
