As any X-Phile knows, there are tons and tons of great lines from our favorite show. Many are deeply poignant, others are comedic, and some would just make great computer sound bytes. I've tried to include all the great lines that the show has produced over the years, and if you can think of any that are missing, feel free to contact me and let me know. I'll see what I can do about locating them. I have categorized my collection by season for easier navigating. Many wavs are the result of my own work, others have been filched from other people's great websites, like Pete Nelson's TV Wavs (which has been shutdown). So enjoy as you relive all the best moments from Season Seven!

The Sixth Extinction

Scully's Thoughts #1 251K zipped, 611K unzipped

Scully: I came in search of something I did not believe existed. I've stayed on now, in spite of myself, in spite of everything I've ever held to be true. I will continue here as long as I can, as long as you're besat by the haunting illness which I saw consume your beautiful mind.

What is this discovery I've made? How can I reconcile what I see with what I know? I feel this was meant not for me to find, but for you, to make sense of, make the connections which can't be ignored. Connections which for me, deny all logic and reason.

What is this source of power I hold in my hand, this rubbing, this simple impression taken from the surface of the craft? I watched this rubbing take its undeniable hold on you, saw you succumb to its spiraling effect.

Now, I must work to uncover what your illness prevents you from finding. In the source of every illness lies its cure.

Scully's Thoughts #2 315K zipped, 752K unzipped

Scully: I feel you slipping away from me with every minute I fail here. What are the elusive meanings I cannot see that are hidden here? If I could understand it, know how it affected you, learn how to use its power to save you...

Scully's Thoughts #3 46K

Scully: The work here is painstaking, a slow and tedious piecing together. It appears to be a craft, its skin covered in the intricate symbols you and I both saw, but which I now understand are part of a complex communication.

Dr. Barnes has broken some of the symbols into letters using an ancient Navajo alphabet, and though it has helped to uncover some of what's here, it has also made for greater confusion.

On the top surface of the craft, I'm finding words describing human genetics. Efforts to read the bottom of the craft have been harder. Our workers were scared away by phenomena I admit I can't explain: a sea of blood, a swarm of insects. But what little we've found has been staggering - passages from the Christian Bible, from pagan religions, from ancient Sumaria. Science and mysticism conjoined. But more than words, they are somehow imbued with power.

I've ignored warnings to quit this work, remaining committed to finding answers, afraid only that our secret here won't last, and that I might be too late.

Extraterrestrial Origins 44K zipped, 115K unzipped

Dr. Barnes: I know what we've got. This craft that's come ashore, it's extraterrestrial origins...

Scully: You don't even believe in that.

Dr. Barnes: Nor do you. But here we are.

I'm Here Only To Help My Partner 22K

Scully: I'm here only to help my partner.

No Doctors 49K

Mulder: We gotta act fast.

Skinner: The doctor's on his way.

Mulder: No doctors. Get Scully.

What's Causing This Is Alien 37K zipped, 115K unzipped

Mulder: What's causing this is alien. It's why my doctors can't help me.

Kritschgau: I don't believe in aliens, Agent Mulder. I think you know that.

Mulder: I do. That's why I need you.

A Complete Human Genome 39K zipped, 122K unzipped

Scully: A complete human genome. I mean it's like...it's the most beautiful, intricate work of art.

I Know You Know 127K zipped, 729K unzipped

Fowley: I know what's happened to you. I know what you're suffering from. I've been sitting back and watching. I know you know. I know you know about me, that my loyalties aren't just to you, but to a man you've grown to despise.

You have your reasons. But as you look inside me now, you know that I have mine. Fox. Fox, I love you. I've loved you for so long. You know that, too. I won't let you die to prove what you are, to prove what's inside you. There's no need to prove it. It's been known for so long. Now we can be together.

More Alive 195K zipped, 737K unzipped

Scully: I have been on a plane for 22 hours. I have to see him.

Skinner: Then I think you should know what you're gonna see if you can even get on the ward. There's been some trouble.

Scully: What kind of trouble?

Skinner: I got this man Kritschgau involved.

Scully: Kritschgau?

Skinner: It's a long story, but it ended badly. They've got Mulder under security now, round the clock. I take full responsibility.

Scully: Responsibility for what?

Skinner: He can't even communicate, Agent Scully. They won't treat him because they don't know what's wrong with him! They said he was dying; I had to do something.

Scully: He's not dying.

Skinner: I'm afraid it's true.

Scully: He's not dying. He is more alive than he's ever been. He's more alive than his body can withstand. And what's causing it may be extraterrestrial in origin.

I've Found The Key 221K zipped, 843K unzipped

Scully: Mulder, it's me. I know that you can hear me. If you can just give me some sign. I want you to know where I've been, what I found. I think that if you know, that you could find a way to hold on. I need you to hold on. I found a key. The key, to every question that has ever been asked. (teary) It's a puzzle, but the pieces are there for us to put together. And I know that they can save you if you can just hold on. Mulder. Please. Hold on.

The Sixth Extinction: Amor Fati

Like A Snake 145K

CSM: I know you can hear me.

Mulder: I could always hear you. Even when my mind is jammed with a thousand voices, I can hear you like a snake hissing underneath.

Only Part Of You Is Dying 166K zipped, 298K unzipped

CSM: Only part of you is dying - the part that played the hero. You've suffered enough, for the X-Files, for your partner, for the world. You're not Christ. You're not Prince Hamlet. You're not even Ralph Nader. You can walk out of this hospital and the world will forget you. Arise!

Your Account Is Squared 258K

CSM: I'm giving you a choice.

Mulder: What choice?

CSM: Life or death. Your account is squared - with me, with God, with the IRS, with the FBI. Rise out of your bed and come with me.

Mulder: I'm dying, you idiot. If I could get up, I'd kick your ass.

I'm Your Father 17K

CSM: I'm your father.

I Don't Smoke 73K

CSM: Can I offer you a cigarette?

Mulder: I don't smoke.

CSM: Maybe now you do.

Just A Case 52K

Scully: Sir, this isn't just a case! This is Agent Mulder we're speaking about.

The Things You Love 63K

Deep Throat: They can change your name, but they can't change the things you love.

Enjoy Your Life 267K zipped, 453K unzipped

Mulder: I felt responsible for your death.

Deep Throat: Well, let that go. Clearly, I'm alive.

Mulder: I thought that you died for my quest.

Deep Throat: Yes - along with Scully's sister, and the man you thought was your father, and Duane Barry, and, and even Scully's mysterious illness, and on and on. You can let go of all that guilt. I'm here to tell you that you're not the hub of the universe, the cause of life and death. We - you and I - are merely puppets in a master plan, no more, no less. You've suffered enough. Now you should enjoy your life.

Little Joys 215K

Mulder: Who's there? Who are you?

Fowley: Hundreds of little joys, to open a door and have a woman beckon you in, to have her make a fire and lay the table for you. And when it's late, to feel her take you into her arms...

Domestic Bliss 465K zipped, 808K unzipped

Mulder: Morning.

Fowley: What's wrong, Fox?

Mulder: There's nothing wrong. Perfect. It's all perfect. What the hell am I doing here?

Fowley: You just need some coffee.

Mulder: No...I'm, I'm serious. I have commitments - to the X-Files, to Scully, to my sister...

Fowley: You think you know what that means. Commitment. It's all just childish, Fox.

Mulder: Childish?

Fowley: Yes. You've been a child, with only the responsibility of a child - your own dreams and fantasies. But you won't know the true joy of responsibility until you plant your feet in the world...and become a father.

Mulder: Wow. Diana, you...you lay all this on me after I sleep with you one time. What's it gonna be like tomorrow?

Fowley: You have to let go, Fox.

Mulder: Just like that, I'm just supposed to slip into domestic bliss? Even after I was dropped off here by a man I have every reason to believe left here to carry on his dirty work.

Fowley: Hey. He lives the next block over. We'll go visit after breakfast.

Things Left Undone 140K

CSM: I wasn't expecting you so soon! I thought you'd take a few days to settle in.

Fowley: Think you need to ally his unhappiness with things he perceives as left undone.

Mulder: Yeah, including why you live in a bigger house than I do.

You Were Supposed To Help Me 103K zipped, 317K unzipped

Mulder: Wow! What did you make?

Boy: An unidentified flying object.

Mulder: Hey! What're you...what're you doing? Why are you destroying your spaceship?

Boy: It's your spaceship, and you're destroying it! You were supposed to help me.

Extraordinary Men 281K zipped, 472K unzipped

CSM: A father has high hopes for his son, but he never dreams his boy is going to change the world. I'm so proud of this man, the depth of his capacity for suffering...

Fowley: Like father, like son.

CSM: They think what he has is killing him, but in actuality, he's never been more alive.

Fowley: Do you think he dreams?

CSM: Well, sure he dreams.

Fowley: About what, I wonder.

CSM: The dreams all men who are owned by the world have. A simpler life, full of small pleasures. Extraordinary men are always most tempted by the most ordinary things. Dreams are all he has now.

Are You Asking Me To Pray? 175K zipped, 298K unzipped

Hosteen: You're running out of time.

Scully: Why do you come to me like this? Why, when I can't find him?

Hosteen: You don't look in the right place.

Scully: I don't think you're hearing me.

Hosteen: You don't know where he is?

Scully: Even if I did, I wouldn't know how to save him. This science makes no sense to me.

Hosteen: Have you looked for him...here?

Scully: Are you asking me to pray?

I'm Always Thinking 223K zipped, 379K unzipped

Scully: Where's Mulder?

Fowley: Maybe before you go around blaming everyone you can find for what's happened to Mulder, you could think about what you could've done to prevent it.

Scully: I just want you to think. Think of Mulder when you met him. Think of the promise and the life in front of him. Think of him now, and then try and stand there in front of me, look me in the eye, and tell me Mulder wouldn't bust his ass trying to save you.

Fowley: I'm thinking, Agent Scully. I'm always thinking.

Fight The Fight 618K zipped, 1.05M unzipped

Mulder: Scully...I knew you'd come. They told me you were dead.

Scully: And you believed them. Traitor.

Mulder: What?

Scully: Deserter. Coward.

Mulder: Scully, don't. I'm dying.

Scully: You're not supposed to die, Mulder. Not here.

Mulder: What do you mean?

Scully: Not in a comfortable bed, with the devil outside.

Mulder: No, you don't understand. He's taken care of me.

Scully: No, Mulder. He's lulled you to sleep. He's made you trade your true mission for creature comforts.

Mulder: There was no mission. There were no aliens.

Scully: No aliens. Have you looked outside, Mulder?

Mulder: I...can't. I'm...too tired.

Scully: No, Mulder. You must get up. You must get up and fight. Especially you. This isn't your place. Get up, Mulder. Get up and fight the fight.

Mulder: Scully! Scully... Scully! Scully!

You Help Me 406K zipped, 678K unzipped

Scully: Mulder. Mulder, you've got to wake up. I've got to get you out of here. Mulder, can you understand me?

Mulder: (screaming, in his head)

Scully: Mulder, you've got to get up. I don't know how much time we have. You've got to get up, Mulder.

Mulder: (screaming, in his head)

Scully: No one can do it but you, Mulder. Mulder, help me. Please, Mulder.

Mulder: You...help me.

My Victory Cap 137K

Mulder: Scully, what are you doing here? Actually, I was...I was just getting dressed to, to come see you, but I, I couldn't find a tie to go with my victory cap.

Scully: Mulder, no work. You have to go back to bed.

Mulder: Ohhh, wait. Tie goes to the runner.

Who To Trust 216K

Scully: I don't know what to believe anymore. Mulder, I was so determined to find a cure to save you that I could deny what it was that I saw. And now, I don't even know. I don't know...I don't know what the truth is, I don't know who to listen to, I don't know who to trust.

I Know She Was Your Friend 188K zipped, 340K unzipped

Scully: Diana Fowley was found murdered this morning. I never trusted her, but she helped save your life, just as much as I did. She gave me that book. It was her key that led me to you. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I know she was your friend.

My Touchstone 278K zipped, 479K unzipped

Mulder: Scully, I was like you once. I didn't know who to trust, and I...I chose another path, another life, another fate where I found my sister. And even though my world was unrecognizable and upside-down, there was one thing that remained the same. You were my friend, and you told me the truth. Even when the world was falling apart, you were my constant. My touchstone.

Scully: And you are mine.

Hungry

Welcome To Lucky Boy 89K

Roberts: Welcome to Lucky Boy. May I take your order?

Mulder: Yeah, we'll have it our way.

Scully: FBI. Special Agents Scully and Mulder. We'd like a word with your manager, please.

We're In Orange County 129K

Mulder: What if this man's brain was eaten? It's not sociologically unheard of. There are certain tribes in New Guinea that consider human brains a delicacy.

Scully: Yeah, but Mulder, we're in Orange County.

Mulder: Yeah, what's your point?

Is That Brain Matter? 97K zipped, 261K unzipped

Mulder: Oh! Hello. Look at this. Does that look like blood to you?

Scully: Yes, it looks like it.

Mulder: What is that? Next to it. Is that uh...oh my - ugh, is that brain? Is that brain matter? There?

Scully: No, I'd say that's ground beef.

Mulder: Ground beef.

Scully: Yeah.

You Can Smell The Pine-Sol 185K

Mulder: Mom or girlfriend?

Roberts: What?

Mulder: Come on, man, who cleans up after you?

Roberts: Neither. It...it's just me. I...I live here alone.

Mulder: Well, bravo. You know they say single guys are just bears who own furniture, but - I mean, my place? (hand gestures of a mess) But here, you can smell the Pine-Sol.

The Hunger Is Always There 100K

Mulder: It knows that the more it feeds on humans, the closer it gets to getting caught. But the hunger is always there, and it satisfies it any way it can.

Good Cop, Insane Cop 70K

Roberts: I'm sorry, but this is like, good cop...insane cop.

Something I'm Not 27K

Roberts: I can't be something I'm not.

Millennium

You Been Spreading Rumors? 172K

Scully: Mulder? You been spreading rumors?

Mulder: Why? You hear any good ones lately?

Scully: Not particularly. So what do you have here?

Mulder: Merry Christmas, by the way, Scully.

Scully: Thank you. Merry Christmas to you, too.

Nay Say Me 116K

Mulder: Well, go ahead, Scully - nay say me. The body of an FBI agent gets disinterred, only to climb out on its own and disappear into the Yuletide night.

Scully: See, you had me up until there.

Mulder: Did I?

Necromancy 22K

Mulder: It was - necromancy.

Like Someone I Know 261K

Mulder: He's been called the greatest criminal profiler that Quantico ever produced.

Scully: Well, what's he doing...here?

Mulder: Morning. Apparently, he uh...checked himself in for a thirty- day observation. I gather the last few years haven't been very kind to him. But if there's anybody that can tell us about the Millennium Group, it's him - he used to consult for them. Later, he fought to bring them down at the expense of his own career and reputation.

Scully: Single-minded. Sounds like someone I know.

Revelations 1:18 76K

Mulder: He that liveth and was dead, and behold I am alive forevermore. Amen. I have the keys of Hell and of death.

Nobody Likes A Math Geek 65K

Scully: And besides, 2001 is actually the start of the new millennium.

Mulder: Nobody likes a math geek, Scully.

Humor Me 52K

Mulder: Don't let anybody remove the staples from the deputy's mouth, okay? Please - just humor me?

Good and Evil 102K

Scully: But what if it were true? Good and evil. Which would prevail?

Black: I'm sorry.

Happy New Year 129K

Mulder: The world didn't end.

Scully: No, it didn't.

Mulder: Happy new year, Scully.

Scully: Happy new year, Mulder.

The Goldberg Variation

Oh.. .Around 212K

Mulder: Hello?

Scully: Hey, Mulder, it's me. What now?

Mulder: Are you in Chicago?

Scully: Yes, I'm in Chicago. I'm on the northeast corner of 7th and Hunter just like you asked. Only you're not here. So where are you?

Mulder: Oh...around.

Scully: Yeah?

Mulder: Hey, nice outfit.

Wile E. Coyote 145K

Mulder: What if this man had some kind of...special capability? Some kind of...genetic predisposition towards rapid healing, or tissue regeneration?

Scully: So, basically, what if we were looking for Wile E. Coyote.

Maybe He Just Got Lucky 168K

Scully: I don't know. Maybe he just got lucky.

Mulder: What if he got really, really lucky? That's your big scientific explanation, Scully? I mean, how many thousands of variables would have to convene in just the right mixture for that theory to hold water?

Scully: I don't know.

Mulder: Well, thousands.

I'm Feeling Lucky 19K

Mulder: Come on, Scully. I'm feeling lucky.

We're Not Plumbers 17K

Scully: Ma'am, we're not plumbers.

My Ass Broke The Fall 56K

Scully: You okay, Mulder?

Mulder: Yeah, it's all right. My ass broke the fall.

Sports Fan 184K

Scully: So...I'm guessing you're a sports fan. Which one's your favorite?

Richie Lupone: Well, it used to be basketball. But now the Bulls suck, so I think maybe baseball.

Scully: I like baseball, too.

Tough Guy 62K

Mulder: You and I are going to have a talk. Just sit right here and don't move, okay?

Henry Weems: Tough guy.

You Win Again! 11K

Mulder: You win again!

Everything Happens For A Reason 68K

Scully: Maybe everything does happen for a reason...whether we see it or not.

The Amazing Maleeni

Neat Trick 89K

Mulder: Neat trick, huh?

Scully: I can think of a neater one. How you convinced me to drop everything and get on the first plane to Los Angeles.

His Head Was Cut Off 17K

Scully: Mulder, his head was cut off.

Tony Randall 115K

Mulder: Ah, observe the nearly complete absence of blood. Observe the paucity of fingerprints as evidenced by the LAPD's liberal use of lycopodium powder.

Scully: Why are you talking like Tony Randall?

Skeptic 73K

Scully: The hand may be quicker than the eye, but it still leaves fingerprints.

Mulder: Provided they haven't dumped the trash.

Scully: Skeptic.

30 Seconds 76K

Mulder: So, basically he died of a heart attack, somebody crept up behind him, sawed his head off and then glued it back on all in the space of 30 seconds.

What A Trouper 14K

Mulder: What a trouper.

Mr. and Mrs...? 65K

Pinchbeck: Good morning, Mr. And Mrs...?

Mulder: Agents...Mulder and Scully. FBI.

Why Do People Do Magic? 52K

Scully: Well, why do people do magic? To, uh, impress, to delight, to gain attention.

The Great Muldeeni 207K

Mulder: Behold-- an ordinary household quarter. I'm going to take the quarter from my right hand and place it into my left hand. Where is it?

Scully: It's in your right hand.

Mulder: Oh, no, no, no.

Scully: Ah...that's not bad.

Mulder: Blow your nose, Scully.

Scully: Mulder...

Mulder: Blow your nose.

Scully: Ah-choo.

Mulder: Ta-da.

Scully: Amazing!

Mulder: The Great Muldeeni.

I'll Show You 129K

Scully: You know, Mulder, there's still one thing that you haven't explained.

Mulder: What's that?

Scully: How the Amazing Maleeni was able to turn his head completely around.

Mulder: I don't know that.

Scully: I do. I'll show you.

Magic 199K

Mulder: Gee! Very nice. How'd you do that?

Scully: Well... magic.

Mulder: No. Seriously, Scully, how'd you do it? You know, it's not the same thing. It's different with the head. Come on. Look at this.
