Micky Mantle Was a God to Me - Jan 1999

Mickey Mantle was a God to me
I grew up watching on black and white TV
Annouced by Dizzy and PeeWee.
Mickey Mantle was the greatest Yankee.

He ran like the wind,
had tremendous power each side of the dish
an icon who burned brighter than anyone could wish.

His navy blue 7 on pin stripes, filled the fans with pride,
When 7 hit the ball in orbit off on a rocket ride.

So long where his homers they became known world wide,
but Mantle fell with a bum leg
that put him on the snide.

He could no longer play
and the Yankkee Fans cried.
he over shadowed every Yankee.
he had the largest stride.

Mickey Mantle the greatest Yankee
Now you see
Why he'll always be a God to me.
