Pokémon Gold and Silver fulfills every Poké-fan's dream and more with the biggest, most exciting Pokémon adventure ever. This stunning Pak brims with a massive new world to explore and all-new Pokémon to catch. Once again, aspiring Pokémon Trainers must embark on a quest to collect Pokémon and prove themselves worthy in battles against eight new Gym Leaders.

Like Pokémon Red and Blue, Gold and Silver Game Paks each contain different Pokémon. You'll have to trade Pokémon with your friends to Catch 'em All. Since Pokémon Gold and Silver are fully compatible with Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, you'll be able to transfer your favorite Pokémon to your new game. (New Pokémon, or older Pokemon with all-new abilities, cannot be traded to Red, Blue or Yellow.)

Pokémon Gold and Silver are guaranteed to amaze with a wide range of groundbreaking features. You'll notice this as soon as you power up your new Pak, when you're asked to set the time for a built-in clock. Because this new feature keeps track of whether you're playing the game at night or day, you'll have to stay up late to catch nocturnal Pokémon like Hoothoot. Gold and Silver also introduce two new Pokémon types, Dark and Steel, which can really change your battle strategy.

For the first time, you'll be able to find out if your Pokémon is a boy or a girl. If you introduce two Pokémon of opposite genders, you could end up with a Pokémon egg! By hatching the egg, you can create pre-evolved Pokémon that have never been seen before.

When you begin your new quest to become a Master Trainer, you'll be provided with cool Pokégear. A cellular phone allows you to chat long-distance with other characters in the game. You'll get calls from friendly Trainers who have spotted rare Pokemon and from your bargain-shopping Mom, who will buy you cool stuff!

Later, the Pokégear's radio tuner will allow you to pick up broadcasts from the bustling metropolis of Goldenrod City. To catch the new Pokémon in Gold and Silver, you'll have to purchase a variety of new Poké Balls from local stores or visit a friendly craftsman who can make 'em for you.

Pokémon Gold and Silver features dozens of new TMs, HMs and abilities, too, including Whirlpool — necessary for reaching Lugia's hideaway in Whirl Island — and Waterfall.

Red Gyarados
Once you've thoroughly explored Johto from sunny Cianwood City to the rugged Ice Path, you'll be able to re-explore Kanto, the world of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. Things aren't quite what they seem this time around, though. New characters appear, Pokémon crop up in different places, and a suspiciously familiar rival lies in wait for all who would be a Master Trainer. Are you up to this biggest challenge of all?
