The wagon stopped in front of a big
house. Two servants came and carried the Fir Tree into a beautiful room. It was put into a big tub filled with sand. "What will happen to me now" thought the Fir Tree. |
Young ladies and servants came into the room. They hung candles, bulbs and other decorations on the
Fir Tree.
"Will all these things stay on me all year?" wondered the Fir Tree.
One of the candles fell on it's branch.
"Ouch! Ouch!" cried the Fir Tree. It was quickly put out. The Fir Tree stood tall. It looked beautiful.
It did not want to hurt any of the decorations. A beautiful star was placed on the very top of the tree.
"Tonight, it will shine" said everyone in the room.
"Oh, how I wish it was nighttime"thought the Fir Tree.
The wide doors to the room were opened. Many children ran into the room. Older people followed
behind. The children looked at the wonderful tree. Then they all shouted and ran around it.
"What are they doing?" thought the Fir Tree.
