~ From Daddy ~
Music is: "Sunrise, Sunset"

My daddy was not an educated person, but he was an honest, hardworking man who loved his family fiercely.
Inside his sometimes harsh exterior, there was a man of tenderness and deep devotion.
He wrote this piece as a young father and carried it in his billfold until he shared it with us when we were adults.

My children are the most of all

That life can mean to me.

Because they are my fondest hope

and sweetest memory.

+++++++++++++

They are the sunshine of the day.

That makes my hours bright.

And they are all my dreams around

The silver stars at nite.

+++++++++++++

I live for them each moment of

The weeks and months and years.

With joy in their accomplishments.

And sorrow in their tears.

+++++++++++++

I want them to grow up and give

Their best in every way

Especially for everyone

Who has a harder day.

+++++++++++++

I want to help them all I can

As long as I may be

Because they are my children and

They mean so much to me.

~Daddy

Daddy was a real character whom you never forgot. He was full of tales and what we now call "Popisms"...he wanted to be called Pop after he became a grandfather.
I think Grandpa sounded too old for him.....he was always young at heart.

He is the cool dude leaning against the Model T Ford.

One of his favorite tales was about the way he parked his car on the street below the courthouse.
He would speed down the hill, then throw on his brakes as he made a quick turn.
The street was gravel and dirt, so he would skid 180 degrees and then pull into the parking spot.
A cop caught him one day and told him he couldn't do that.
Daddy replied, " I sure can....I just did it"!

( And he got onto ME when I had a quick wit...well some people might call it a smart mouth ! )

Mother's first recollection of Daddy was when he passed her and her family out for a Sunday drive.
My dad had his car muffler turned down.
As he passed cars, he would rev it up a bit, and then escape in a cloud of dust.
My Grandad commented as Daddy sped away, " It's that wild Caylor boy " !

Later he learned to appreciate Daddy and was very happy to have him for a son-in-law.

I miss you, Daddy.
You provided me with Love and Security.
For that I am eternally grateful.

This page is for all you Fathers
who have dedicated your lives to protecting and providing for your families.
Many times your sacrifices have gone unnoticed and unappreciated.
But to you, I say, THANK YOU .
