NOTES: “Still, for all the intensity of its music, the band itself conserves energy. Its members don't bounce around the stage trying to incite the audience, and they keep the overt rock-star gestures to a minimum. Lead singer Ian McCulloch began many songs crouched near the base of the microphone, and once he stood up, he rarely moved from that spot, with both hands on the mike stand.” -- Renée Graham, The Boston Globe

November 22nd, 2005
Echo and the Bunnymen
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States; Theater of the Living Arts
NOTES: “It was my [8 year-old] son's first concert, and he was mesmerized. What made it even more memorable was the fact that he wrote a note for Will saying how much he loved EATB. Will very graciously, not only accepted it but actually took a few moments to read it. He then gave the guitar pick to Zach that he had been using through most all of the concert.” – Bunnymen.com forum post

November 23rd, 2005
Echo and the Bunnymen
Toronto, Ontario, Canada; The Carlu
NOTES: “The band played very well. The drumming was powerful and McCulloch's voice was probably the strongest I've heard in a long time and it seemed effortless for him to reach the high notes. The sound in the venue was horrible.” – Bunnymen.com forum post

NOTES: “The Chicago show seemed like I was watching an episode of Days of Our Lives. All the drama....the action....the plot twist ....” – Bunnymen.com forum post, describing the continuing drama of Ian McCulloch’s problems with the venue’s sound system, a fan who danced and sang along through every song, and. McCulloch’s eventual throwing of the microphone at this fan.

November 28th, 2005

NOTES: The Bunnymen persevered through four days of freezing cold, icy road conditions, and an unwarranted fire alarm to deliver their first-ever show in Boise. “With about two minutes left to play in the ‘Roadhouse Blues' portion of ‘Villiers Terrace’, the fire alarm goes off. And it goes off all over the venue. As the band's still performing, Ian asks between verses if anyone hears a whistle. Then, with about 30 seconds left in the tune, the house lights go on …. The song stops, Ian again asks if it's a whistle and then says ‘Oh, is that the fire alarm?’ … before he leaves the stage he says, ‘Be sure to come back - it gets better’…. So now it's out the front of the club awaiting the fire department's arrival. And it's cold. We're being instructed to move further and further away from the building as the firefighters begin their inspection of the building. This lasts 30 minutes, and we're clear to re-enter …. The band takes the stage to an even louder roar, and Ian's first line is ‘This is the second time we've played Boise.’” – Bunnymen.com forum post

December 1st, 2005
Echo and the Bunnymen
Portland, Oregon, United States; Wonder Ballroom
NOTES: “With a cigarette hanging out his mouth, lead singer and lyricist McCulloch commanded the stage, the band, and the audience with a swagger inherited by Ian Brown and the Gallagher brothers. He conducted the band, the soundman, and the audience itself with a sort of dangerous charisma that would have had us do anything he said …. Underneath his shades, though, you could see he was having a good time, and he even allowed for a couple of smiles and wicked cool dance moves.” –tinymixtapes.com

December 2nd, 2005
Echo and the Bunnymen
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Richard's on Richard
NOTES: “… the place was filled to capacity with about 400 people -- and it was awesome being able to see the band up close, while seated and being served drinks! …. Mac was interacting with the audience, chastising his bassist and rhythm guitarist for playing too heavy at times, and even forgot the second verse to ‘Rescue’ -- but managed to recover (after Will reminded him) -- it was classic …. The mix of the crowd spanned from those barely legal enough to get in, to a few people who looked to be close to their 60's!” – – Bunnymen.com forum post

Echo and the Bunnymen
Seattle, Washington, United States; Showbox
NOTES: “… there was a guy dressed as a bear outside the club with a sign saying he'd dance for an echo ticket -- I heard from the workers that the show was a sellout ... people were really stacked into the place.” – Bunnymen.com forum post

I took as my starting point Steve Doughty's excellent and comprehensive Bunnymen Recordings site, and have filled in gaps using the Seven Seas Archive (which went back to January 1st, 1999 at the time I copied it all into text files), as well as the various other web pages and articles cited in my listings. This is still very much a work in progress. I have received a good deal of help from members of the Seven Seas and Bunnymen.com communities -- thank you all!
