Ray Ray
June 4, 2000

Ray Ray
Ray Ray's new life began when someone found him under her porch and she took him to the Animal Rescue League. The League took him in, even though he had an obvious medical problem. His one eye was injured and it appeared to be in bad shape. He was in need of some expensive medical treatment.

About three weeks before Ray Ray came to the League, Women's Auxiliary President, Pat, lost her dear Siamese named Peaches. Peaches had been in her family for many years. She had a stroke one day and Pat called her friends in the clinic at the Rescue League to help her put Peaches to rest. The same employees (more like friends to Pat) that helped her to part with Peaches were there when Ray Ray came into the shelter and they both had the same thought - "this kitten would be perfect for Pat - let's call her."

When Pat saw the little kitten in need, she decided to take care of it, to make it better, and to adopt it. He needed three eye operations, one to trim the lid and two to shape the eye. He came through with flying colors. Dr. Bridge at the shelter did the operations and he told Pat that he thought the kitten would have some vision in the bad eye. His eye is just a little funny looking, but it didn't slow Ray Ray down in the least. He has co-hosted two Women's Auxiliary meetings at Pat's house and has entertained everyone in the room. He even escaped into the shrubs outside at the December meeting and had half the members running around in the rain looking for him (we think he did it on purpose).

Ray Ray wasn't accepted immediately by Pat's other cat Peggy, but the house is large and there's room for both of them. There's also room for dear Sheena, Pat's dog that she adopted from the shelter. Ray Ray is a very sweet cat and he has been with Pat and her husband, Dick, and Pat's mom for over a year now. He is growing to be a beautiful cat, just like Peaches was.

Ray Ray's entry into shelter life couldn't have come at a better time, both for him and for Pat. Ray Ray and Pat were both in need of some healing, and thanks to the watchful eye of two kennel workers, another perfect match was made at the Animal Rescue League. When you ask Pat about Ray Ray, her eyes light up and she always says "he is the most lovable cat in the world and I don't know what we would do without him!"
