Cold, a little snow.
Rise and ShineBasically a weird morning! I went to bed around 3 last night, but Fumihiko was still working on his report. I got up to use the washroom at 6ish and Fumihiko was still working on his report. He said he was on the last sentence of it. His alarm went off at 7:30 am and he was nowhere to be seen. I was worried because I didn't know if he was sleeping on the couch, so I checked. Nope. Had he left for work already? Nope, the car was in its parking space and his wallet and cellphone were on the table. Where was he? I went searching and found him in the bath. I was worried in case he'd fallen asleep, but he hadn't. He was awake. I went back to bed and then when my alarm went off later I really was alone in the house.
Me and Them Duke BoysI watched the US news and then flipped the TV over to Wowow to see what was on. I caught the beginning of the movie, The Dukes of Hazzard. Now, my preamble. When I was 12 or 13 or so, the original TV series came on. At first I liked it, it was goofy and good natured. I liked that the Duke Boys didn't use guns (they used bows and arrows if memory serves), and the actors that played Bo and Luke Duke were cute. My personal favourite was of course John Schneider as Bo. When I found out he could sing too, I was in heaven. In fact, I have one of his cds here and I listen to it sometimes! As I grew older and became more discerning, I stopped watching the Dukes of Hazzard. It had changed from a fun and silly TV show, to a stupid hour of racing cars. When it finally got cancelled I hadn't been watching the show for years. So, I was a fan, but not a rabid one, and then I just remember the show with a little fondness, and a chuckle for all of the tomfoolery that went on. I also felt a little pride when I realized that I made the decision not to watch it anymore, it wasn't a case of it being cancelled first.
I had heard only bad things about the movie re-make, but I wanted to see for myself. I watched it for about 20 minutes and changed the channel. What a mess. There was a mean spirit about the characters and the actors were just wrong, wrong, wrong. The actors playing Bo and Luke definitely weren't as good looking as the original actors. They also weren't as good at acting! I changed channels just after Burt Reynolds came on. I like the way that The Dukes of Hazzard is in my head, why mess with that?
I putzed around the house today. I didn't really do anything much. I watched a bit of Catwoman which I'd seen before. It was excessively silly, but mostly harmless. I watched the episode of Cold Case that I'd taped yesterday. I also watched today's episode. I enjoyed it. I like police dramas and I like the idea that they recreate the old scenes with actors and then switch back and forth. I've set the vcr to record tomorrow's episode too, plus Grey's Anatomy. I want to see what all the fuss is about!
Sock-it-to-meI left for work about 4:30. It was clear, but I decided to walk. I thought it might be a bit messy out there, and it was, but I think if it doesn't snow overnight I can bike it tomorrow. It took about 25 minutes to walk to my school from home. It's not too bad. I have to work on a good route though. I can probably shave some time off that. At least I hope so. When I got near my school I realized that my wool sock had slipped down my foot, so I stopped and took off my boot to fix it. Then I realized that the sock inside the wool sock had slipped off my foot entirely and was now bunched at the toe of the wool sock. I couldn't just pull up the wool sock, I had to take it off too, retrieve the other sock and slip the wool sock back on. I did all this standing against a guard rail. There was a junior high school student walking near me. He must have thought I was crazy!
I got to my school, found that I didn't have to shovel my parking space (yay!) and then got to work planning my classes for tomorrow. I also changed a bit of today's class. That was good, and I'm glad that I did it. We had a good lesson.
The EveningI didn't know if Fumihiko would be home or not. He had said that he might have a party to go to after his meeting. I sent him a c-mail and he replied. He didn't have a party and he picked me up. Yay.
We had a Japanese style dinner in Matsumaru and then came home. Fumihiko was very tired and fell asleep on the couch. After a while he bathed and went to bed. He's sleeping now. I can't imagine staying up that long. I used to do it when I was in college, but I need my sleep these days. I should get off to bed myself. I'm a bit busier tomorrow.
Talk to you tomorrow night. Night...and just for old time's sake, Yee-haw! Nope, it just doesn't suit me does it? I'll take off, eh?
