Muggy, cloudy and finally rainy all day. Yuck.
I didn't have a timely get-up this morning and frankly I couldn't care less about it! I didn't have to be anywhere for ages anyway, so no big deal. I finally dragged myself off the bed, showered and drank lots of coffee...(decaff of course).
I wrote an email to a college friend in the daytime and even got off the computer for a while to watch last night's Without a Trace. It was an interesting one about a fifteen year old girl who'd gone AWOL. (Spoiler alert) She'd gotten pregnant and hadn't told her mother. The interesting thing about the show for me, was that the girl's mother was played by Gia Carides. She's Australian, and one of the stars of my top ten movie, Strictly Ballroom. She played Liz, Scott's original partner if you remember the film. She's also Anthony LaPaglia's (star of Without a Trace) wife. With black hair.
I had a nice lunch around 4 and watched Cold Case. I enjoy that show. These are all repeats, but I'm getting to know other characters on the show, rather than just the main lead. I caught the tail end of 30 Days today. It wasn't as good as the one from the other day. In this one, two "city slickers" moved onto a commune that did most of it's own recycling and veggie growing. It was okay. The people (city people) were basically annoying, so I didn't enjoy it as much as before.
I headed off to work a bit after five. I was at the end of the driveway when I checked my watch. Or rather, I didn't check my watch because it wasn't on my wrist! I'd left it at home. I went back to get it, thinking that I'd left my cell phone behind too. I got my watch, but my cell was safely in my handbag.
I got to the school quickly, but I went via the drugstore to get a few things. I set up at the school and planned a lesson for my student's next class. Today's class went okay, but not great. Some concepts are harder to grasp than others. Today we talked about bilingual dictionaries. I don't really like them quite honestly, but that's what topic was in the text book. I think my student didn't understand that some English words can have 2 (or more) meanings. It confused her. I talked about it with hubby later on, and he said when he studied English in school he wasn't taught that at all. It wasn't until he studied at le Eikaiwa that he found out about that.
Right before the end of class my doorbell rang. I looked at the monitor. It was a guy that I didn't know holding a card up to the camera. I couldn't read it of course and didn't go to the door. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was the NHK collector. Although there was a TV in my apartment-school when I rented it, I put it in a closet. I don't watch TV in my school, so I'm sorry, but I'm not going to pay NHK there. We pay at our apartment where we live...so please don't think I'm weaseling out of paying!
After my student left, I cleaned up, did some marking, set out some stuff for tomorrow, texted hubby to see if he was done work yet, and had a cup of coffee. After I got a text back from him I did dishes and then settled in to read a bit. I found a book in a drawer that I began before I left my old job, but didn't get into. I read one other book by the author and it was okay. I'll see how this one goes.
Fumihiko came to get me a bit after 9. He'd just finished his work and was all sweaty! He had a change of clothes with him, so he changed and then we went out to M's Dining for dinner. It was quite nice tonight. I had steak and hubby had chicken.
We did a grocery shop too. I think Fumihiko is going to do most of the cooking tomorrow night. It'll most likely be ginger pork. He went off to the washroom for a minute and the security guard kept giving me the evil eye. I hadn't seen him before, so maybe he's suspicious of foreigners? Or it could just be that I'm so incredibly beautiful that he couldn't help staring. (That's what my husband says...)
We came home and spent a quiet evening together, at our respective computers. I served up some lovely iced coffee...mine was chocolatey. We didn't really talk much.
Our evening is winding down. Fumihiko may be working late again tomorrow, and I'll be late too. I have an afternoon class tomorrow, so I'll be at the school for quite a while. I should probably go out for a lunch break in the middle. Either lunch or coffee. Taking a break is a good thing. It depends on the weather really. If it's nice it's easier to go out.
Well, that's it from me. I'll likely chat at y'all tomorrow night. Night!
