Sunny and a bit muggy.
After last night's entry, if you thought I would have a bad day today, you'd be wrong! Today was really nice. Surprise, surprise.
I had an "chat" session with a good friend back home after I posted last night and she gave me a good talking to. It really helped me feel better, and see that I needed to change some of my responses to triggers. Anyway, thanks Suzulan!
I went to bed very, very late last night. I woke up a bit when Fumihiko left and wished him a good time...with genuine good will. I fell back asleep, until he came back. When he came back, he was in great spirits. He'd really enjoyed his Wrestling School thing. He'd even done a bit of teaching to some children so was very excited. If I can just brag for a moment, I should tell you that when he was in high school, Fumihiko was the Yamagata wrestling champion, and even was third overall in Japan! He loves wrestling...the real kind that you see at the Olympics, not the other kind.
We went out for lunch today. We were going to go to a new restaurant, but it was closed. We drove around and then I suggested going to a soba restaurant. I don't usually eat noodles, but soba is one of the more healthy sorts, so we went for it! I had cold soba with a side order of duck or chicken, and hubby had hot soba with the fowl in the soup. It was a nice lunch and very different than what I usually eat on weekends.
We followed that up with a bit of a drive around the city, then we went to Mr. Donuts for Cafe au Lait. That was very nice too.
We didn't have any plans, so I suggested going to karaoke. We grabbed a few snacks at a grocery store and then went to Mannekineko. The nice thing about Mannekineko is that it's cheap! We got free time with drink bar for 1200 yen, and we had a discount coupon so it was only 1100 yen. Yay. We picked a good time to go too. They'd just released a bunch of 80's songs...my favourite music era. I was able to warble "Here Comes the Rain Again" which is a Eurythmics song that I've been dying to do for years. I also did Weird Al's "Eat It", and Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell". Fun! Hubby did a bunch of Japanese and English songs. I sang along when he did the Grandfather's Clock song. It's one of the few Japanese songs that's slow enough for me to read the hiragana while I sing. One day I may get brave enough to try it on my own. Or not!
After karaoke, Fumihiko brought me home and went to his house. He had a bit of a fight with his mother I think. It's hard for me to understand. Unfortunately she isn't the most sympathetic of people.
When he came home we talked about going to see the movie we didn't see last night, but decided not to. It wouldn't end until midnight, and Fumihiko does have an early start tomorrow. We had dinner at Jiro. I couldn't have the dish I wanted, but I had another one that was just as good, so that was okay. After dinner we came home.
I turned on the TV and discovered that DieHard was on. The original, and the best, so we watched that. I think hubby hadn't seen it before. It had commercials in it, but it was still fun. After midnight we discovered that The Dead Zone was on, so I watched that.
So, surprisingly, today turned out to be a good day. I'm so glad. Tomorrow, Fumihiko is back at work and I'm a lady of leisure. I have lots of things to do, but will I do them? I'm not sure! Tune in tomorrow night and see what happens.
Night.
