Rainy and cloudy all day.
A mostly good day. When I got up this morning I turned on the TV and found that In Her Shoes was on. I'd seen it last year and loved it, and I loved the book, so I was happy to rewatch it. I like the writer, Jennifer Weiner. She has the love/hate relationship between sisters pegged.
I had a mostly quiet morning/afternoon at home. I did make a cucumber and yogurt salad for our dinner. It's better made a bit early and left to have the flavours blend in the fridge. I did taste a bit of it and it was yummy and garlicky.
I watched a bit of Corner Gas and was very surprised to see the former Prime Minister of Canada on the show. It was funny.
I ended up leaving a bit later than I planned for work. I looked outside before I left....it didn't seem to be raining. Yay. I grabbed hubby's bike key...mine has been making horrible sounds so he told me to take his bike today. However, I got to his bike and his back tire is soft again. I was running too late to take the time to blow it up again, so I took my bike again, horrid noise and all. I got about 50 meters and I realized that it was raining and getting harder, so I stopped and put on my lovely Tokyo Disneyland cape.
I missed the light that I usually cross the main road on, so I just kept going straight. I crossed at the next crosswalk and did a bit of a different route. I had turned down a side road when the top of my light fell off. Sigh. Luckily there was no one coming so I could stop and pick it back up, but how annoying!
I got to the school and set up. I managed to get most things done before my student came, but I didn't get to do as much cleaning as I wanted to do. Still, the lesson went well. I've decided to do more work with phonics for the student. He's doing well, and today was the first lesson that I didn't think he was scared of me!
Between my lessons I did a bit of paperwork and preparation. My student wasn't on time. I was surprised because she usually calls if she'll be late or absent. However, she rang the doorbell a few minutes later. She said there was someone parked in MY parking space. I went out to see, not that I could do anything really, and as we went over to the parking lot, a man and a woman came out of an apartment and went to the car space. They had been using my space. Grr. I told the woman in my very bad Japanese not to do that and she apologized to my student and said that the car was only there to pick her up and hadn't been there very long. My student told me later that she'd arrived at 6:50 and the car was there, so I'm afraid I don't believe the woman. How annoying. I do hope I won't have to get the building management involved. It may be time for them to circulate another note about parking.
Anyway, our lesson went okay, and I gave her a little bit of extra time because she wasn't late for her personal reason...I mean, it wasn't her fault.
After work, I finished up rather quickly and then came home. I was very careful as my light didn't work on this trip. Sigh. I got home and almost immediately got a call from Fumihiko saying that he'd finally finished work. The poor thing had to work late today, because we made dinner reservations for tomorrow. If we hadn't had the reservations he would have to work late tomorrow.
When hubby came home, I got busy. I set the table and put out the salads. I got Fumihiko to make coffee and he got to put together the caesar salad. Yes, two salads! Yum though. I made the pork kimchee stirfry. I added in the last zucchini that we bought last week, and it was really nice. It's very simple to make, but tastes good. It got great reviews. I don't think Fumihiko is as keen on the yogurt salad as I am, but that's okay. All the more for me. He did the dishes afterwards too.
We didn't watch much tv tonight or anything, but after midnight I checked what was on and found a couple of episodes of Little Britain. It was very funny. Fumihiko was laughing at it too. I wasn't sure how the humour would translate for him. British Humour and Japanese Humour seem worlds apart. Mind you, the actors on Little Britain do dress up like women, and so do most of the Japanese so-called "talents". Maybe not so different after all!
And that's it for today. It was a good day overall. I enjoyed it, but wish it would stop raining. I didn't feel any earthquakes today, although I'm told that there were some.
Got to go! Night night.
