Chapter 8
The Death of King Adam
As my brother and I returned to the fort, it was in ruins. The great titanium wall my father had made had melted, and the castle was in ruins. As we flew into the throne room, I saw the last loyal warriors of my father, still fighting against impossible odds. It was 70 against 5, so we decided to even it up and give them a hand.
While I shot my energy blasts, my brother went into the air. I blasted about ten of them while my brother threw them into the walls. As a soldier ran at me, I jump kicked him and then spin kicked in the face sending him flying through the air into a crowd of Thanos' henchmen. I looked at my brother, he was taking care of the rest of the men.
I saw the general of my father's army, Cage lying on the ground, still alive. I ran to him, "Are you ok, Cage?"
Cage looked up at me with blood spurting out of his mouth, and then he said very much in painful words, "Your...fa...father...they...got him on...th...the...roof." I looked at Cage, his eyes were closed. I felt his pulse, he was gone. He had died helping his king, a loyal friend to the end.
"Come on David, I know we can't stop fate but we sure can try!" I told him. We both flew through the ceiling and saw Thanos across the roof. He was holding something up and over the cliff. What? That was father! "Hi boys, I've been expecting you," was all he said before dropping a helpless father over the edge.
"Nooooooooooo!" David and I both screamed. We both shot out energy blasts towards Thanos just as one of his men walked right in the way. The blasts hit Thanos's man knocking him right into Thanos, which took them both over the edge of the roof.
At that moment, everything suddenly went into slow motion as if I was in a dream. I couldn't see anything there was too many tears in my eyes. I wasn't even controlling my body anymore. That was the moment that David and I went temporally insane.

As Thanos fell to the ground he thought to himself, "How did those kids get those...those...powers?" A second later he hit the ground. As he got up and brushed himself off, he heard the screams of his men.
"They think I'm going up there to save them. Ha, not until I know what exactly what I'm fighting." Thanos wasn't the kind of titan to walk away from a fight but he had a bad feeling about this one. He got on a motor skeeter and went back to the ship to regroup.

When I came out of this "trance" David and I were soaked in blood. Our first thought was that we were badly hurt and going to die, but we were in no pain. I sat up and looked myself over, not a scratch. For the first time, I looked around me. There were hundreds of dead bodies all around us like a slaughterhouse. I investigated closer. They were all under the command of Thanos. Had we killed all these soldiers ourselves?
David jumped over the cliff and flew to the bottom. As I joined him, the sight brought tears to my eyes. Father was missing four fingers, half his hair, one of his eyes, both of his ears, his tongue, his liver, and a kidney. After Thanos had "integrated" him, he had slowly burned him alive. It also seemed that they had used him for target practice, for he had darts all over his scarred body. Then when they saw us coming and probably threw him over the cliff just to see our grief stricken faces.

Thanos counted his men, less than 200 left! "That means I lost over 550 men on that castle," he thought, "those Questoions are tough and in our condition they may have a chance to take my army."
Blade stepped up, "Sir?" Thanos looked at him. His clothes were ripped and he was bleeding badly, but he was still able to work for his master.
"What?" Thanos asked impatiently.
"The men want to know, what do we do now?"
Thanos rose from his throne, "Find out all the information on Prince Adam and David. I want to know exactly what we are fighting."
Blade walked away. He was going steady on the outside but on the inside…his best friend Skull had been on the roof when the massacre had happened. Without Skull, he had no one to talk to. "Who cares, "he assured himself, "I don't need a wussy little friend to tell my troubles to. I'm not a little girl." Though Blade said these words himself, deep inside knew it wasn't true. Everyone needs a friend. Except maybe, Thanos.

As David and I buried our father in the courtyard, we made a vow. We would no matter what, pay back every man under Thanos's command and then Thanos. We would complete this vow no matter what and no matter whoever stood in our way. As I looked at David through my tearing eyes, I also saw him crying. As we finished we hugged and sat upon the ground. Thanos would pay for this abomination with his soul.
