Bill's Song

 Diane Yates, Bill's Mom

I wrote a poem for my son, and I have a friend that is a muscian. His name is Erik Hendin, and he has a CD out called Long Journey. He wrote the songs in memory of his girlfriend who died by suicide.

We have been emailing each other and just talking, so I sent him my lyrics to a poem I had written in memory of our son Bill. He is going to record it, and we are just excited that we will have a great tribute to our son in the form of music. Don't know when, but I will keep you posted on it.

The songs in Long Journey are wonderful, easy listening.  He has a great voice, too.  Erik also sang at the Out of the Darkness Walk.  He has a Web site at www.erikhendin.com.

Bill's Song

Wings of a dove looking down from above
Flying high in clouds
Soaring free as free as can be
Watching me watching you
Guarding our every move
Guiding us to make right decisions
Looking back can't bring you back
But going forward can keep us on track
You were just twenty one
Life had just begun
Full of life and having fun
Your eyes were brown
Hair so thick
Your body lean and tall
So strong
A smile that shone all the time
You loved life and would do for all
You loved to dress
And impress
Would fit in with any crowd
Followed their lead
No friends would you turn away
Black, white or gray
You treated them
Fairly in a way
And oh the girls
You loved them too
They called you the player
And play them you did that too
Wings of a dove
Looking down from above
Flying high in the clouds
Soaring free as free as can be
Watching me watching you
Guarding our every move
Guiding us to make
The right decisions
Looking back can't bring
You back
But going forward can
Keep us on track
