I need to find a new ISP. I don't know how the weather was for you last Thursday, but it was pretty awful here. Needless to say, there was no update and many of you e-mailed me to find out why. The simple reason is that my ISP wouldn't keep a connection open long enough for me to get my FTP program to connect to the server so that I could upload any files. I guess it didn't really matter, because there wasn't much to say. Finding new news on Jason Voorhees is tough. As fans of the series, you know what I'm talking about. When I started doing these updates, I thought that if I forced myself into doing updates twice a week, I'd force myself to hunt down new info. That hasn't really happened. So I'm going to stop doing this as a Tuesday/Thursday thing. Don't worry, it's not going away, but it won't be what I've been trying to do for the last month. What I am going to do is add updates as needed. Whenever I find something out, I will post a new news update. When I figure out why I love or hate something about the series, I will post a new news update. I'll still try for at least one a week, but with Jason X around the corner, hopefully I'll have news to add every few days.
With that said, here's the first real new bit of news. It seems that 22MAR2K2 might not be a set-in-stone release date after all. It looks like a good ball-park date, but I doubt that 22MAR2K2 will be the final date for one reason - Blade 2. It looks as if Blade 2 is coming out on that date, and I doubt that New Line will release two movies they have high hopes for on the same date. With that in mind, I'd guess that Jason X will be pushed back 2 weeks closer to summer. I'll try to stay on top of this the best I can.
As I said earlier, I had nothing much to do in Thursday's storm since my 'net connection was flaky. I was flipping through the channels trying to find something to watch. Since I don't get UPN here, WWF Smackdown doesn't air until Saturday night and there's not much else on that intrests me on Thursdays. I flipped to WGN out of Chicago to find that Jason Goes To Hell was on. If I had known, I would've let you know here. I'll look out for that kind of thing in the future. But I did hunker down and watch for the edits (Hey! There's supposed to be more blood there!), and I started to realize what bothered me about the film. I know that many people hated the whole Jason jumps through bodies thing, but that always intrigued me. So what did bother me?
In all the movies, Jason is virtually unstoppable. He's been shot, stabbed, burned, crushed, drowned, re-drowned, poked, thrown, punched, run-over, electricuted, poisoned, and more. Someone hits him with a shovel... he stabs them with the broken handle. Someone stabs him with a pitchfork... he plucks their intestines out with it. Yet, at the climax of the movie when Jason is re-born and out to kill the last of his kind who can bring about his own destruction, how much of a bad-ass is he? He gets pushed around, thrown out of a window, and some ordinary guy punches and kicks him and it hurts him! How does that make sense? Then, Jason starts throwing Steven through the jungle-gym in the front yard and punching him. Why doesn't he just snap the guy's neck or rip his arms off? Sure, the director wanted Steven to live to give the movie a happy ending, but how does that fit in the story? I never caught this before even though I new that something wasn't right.
Maybe you guys know something that I don't. If so, drop me a line.
