After bypassing Belvidere, US20 meets the eastern end of Business US20 IL23 at Marengo, just south of IL176's western end I-90 in northwestern Kane County At an intersection with IL47, US20 turns south onto IL47, as IL72 comes from the east and joins IL47 south, forming a "wrong way multiplex" After following IL47 and IL72 for a short distance, US20 breaks off and heads east again; at the same intersection, IL72 breaks off to head west US20 crosses IL31 at an interchange at Elgin US20 crosses IL25 at another interchange at Elgin IL59 by Bartlett I-355 near its northern end, near Bloomingdale IL53, a block east of the I-355 interchange IL83 by Elmhurst US20 joins I-290 east near York Road US20 exits I-290 and joins IL64 east for a short distance US20 breaks off, after crossing I-294
