Stages of a Saiyan
Saiyans are a superior fighting race that live for destroying. Pure breeds are born with black hair and a tail. Their hair usually remains the same, and does not grow their entire life. Their master, Frieza, was somewhat worried that a legend about a "Super Saiyan" would become reality and destroy Frieza himself. Because of this, Frieza destroyed what he thought was all of the saiyans. Only Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, and Goku were left. Too bad for Frieza Goku was the one he needed to kill.

This first stage is called the Oozaru, or Giant Monkey. At first, this is the strongest known form of a saiyan. It multiplies their strength times 10. A tail and moonlight are needed to do this. |

This stage, I don't think was meant to be. As Goku calls it, Super Kao Ken, keeps the original hair color, but spikes up like Super Saiyan. He uses this against Frieza and Cell in the otherworld, along with win he fights Pikkon. |

b>Super Saiyan is the first main Super Saiyan stage. The Saiyan's hair turns yellow, and their eyes turn green. Their power and anger increase greatly. They cannot achieve this form with a tail. |

This stage is not part of the main Super Saiyan line. Ultra Super Saiyan has three stages of it's own. The first stage which is usually used, the second stage which has more power, but moves slower, and the third stage, which is incredibly bulky and strong, but also very slow. This stage isn't used much. |

Super Saiyan 2 is back on the mainline of Super Saiyan. The hair is spikier, and the Saiyan has more confidence and power. It also has some flashes of electricity one in awhile. |

Super Saiyan 3 is a stage only reached by Goku. The hair is about 3 feet long, causing the Saiyan to use up a lot of energy to move, making it a hard stage to maintain. Also, while in this stage, the Saiyan has no eyebrows. |

Golden Oozaru is the Super Saiyan form of Oozaru. Rather than ten times their strength, it is 10 times their Super Saiyan strength, making this an incredible form. Their tail is needed again to reach it. |

If a cause is found, while in the Golden Oozaru stage, a Saiyan will transform into this, Super Saiyan 4. Due to the black hair and redish eyes, it is not a main Super Saiyan stage. It also has it's own stages (see the Super Saiyan 4 page). I believe that this is the legendary Super Saiyan stage. |

The final stage reached in the show, is the Second form of Super Saiyan 4, with no known name. It is only reached by Gogeta. I don't know much more about this form, except that their hair is red, and their once reddish coat of fur, is now brownish. |
