Egypt,
Cairo day 2
Last night spent with a horrible 5 star cruise with dinner on the Nile. We got ripped of by a taxi driver, but got there in time.

A metal detector found two knives on me. One pocket knife, the other strapped to my leg. A big one. A little surprised, but no crime committed, the let me pass, leaving the knives at the desk...

The only thing that made everything worthwhile was a belly dancer with good spirit and great tits. Shake 'm baby! The knives were still at the desk, and with a little understanding and a glow of appreciation of the guard, got them back. After this we went back direction hotel, to end up in the Internet cafe. Tischa is doin' great. The coughing gets less.

This morning woke up and left Tischa to sleep a little bit more while out to change some money, and inform about the trip to Aswan. If possible we would go with the night train. Of coarse the guys in our hotel tried to arrange us in a group of sheep-tourists. No way! Ins Allah! We go and see where we get. The dust storm is not passing and visiting the pyramids is not being advised now. So off we went to the train station to get our tickets.

The guy that was so helpful, but costed more money in the end.

Afterwards I thought it would have been better if someone else would have gone picking them up. As we were welcomed behind the ticket counters as special guests, we ended up paying for the surprisingly hospital people. Escaping an argument about 50 paisa too little paid, we made a run for the exit, just to get into the next argument about the price for the taxi back to the hotel and the Cairo's Egyptian Museum. Pfoe...

We arrived at the Cairo's Egyptian Museum at 02.00 PM. It is raining. In Egypt! I had never thought... Guards everywhere, metal detectors, ticket inspectors, all guns. Egyptian Fort Knox. I can understand. Not that long ago the place got mugged because of too little security... Camera's not allowed, I left my equipment at an office specially for all those tourist camera's... Well.. Then entering the building itself. Another metal detector. Got my knife with me; no way to deny. But they seem to have little interest in the pocket knife.

The Cairo's Egyptian Museum was impressive. All that you can get in mind, thinking about ancient Egypt is there, inclusive the atmosphere. The desert dust is hanging in the big hall, and the smell of ancient materials as used for the mummies is penetrating. The statues are within touch, and although there are signs not to touch, no one tells you not to if you do. And it feels great to touch these old stones, knowing that thousands of years people have been reading the scripts, passing the pharaoh's statues, thinking there strong thoughts. As if I was there again... That's how it felt.

One statue of a Lion with a man face felt as my deceased husband, still feeling affection, love and service to him. Another tomb made me want to go in. It was mine. I felt like talking to those ancient faces, as if meeting old friends. It was definitely worth while and am curious about the next big thing.

Tischa loved the whole thing. The actual mummies, the sarcophagus, the huge statues. She forgot time completely.

We decided to leave after 2 hours. I could spent a lifetime here, but the impressions are too big.

Tischa and me decide to go for dinner. Lonely planet writes about a few great places, and of we go, just to get the same taxi driver we had the night before ripping us off. Now it was my time. After the ride paid just enough with a big fuck you, and got into this great restaurant where the local Picasso was painting a mural. Lams meat from a big bone, and Egyptian Falafel. Ice-cream after and off to our internet shop again...
