Sonny thanks Jason for finding them. He also thanks Jax for saving his life. Jax just wants Sonny to leave Brenda alone now. Brenda is brought in for reinjuring her hip. When the doctor says they will need to do x rays she asks Brenda if there's any chance she could be pregnant. Once she's alone with the doctor she confides she had unprotected sex, but it would be soon to know if she was pregnant or not. They hold off on x rays, but want to admit her for observation. Mike is worried about Sonny and urges him to be with Brenda. He realizes something happened between them and can see Sonny is happy. Brenda tells Mike that when they thought they were going to die, Sonny confessed that he was glad Mike stayed. Brenda tells him Sonny loves him. To which he replies, "And he loves you." She smiles through her tears and says she knows. Alan stops by to see Brenda. She asked to see him because she is worried that she is becoming dependent on her pain pills. Alan downplays her concerns and says since she is aware and concerned about it, there's no need to worry. Besides, he says it is the very same medicine he's taking for his wrist. When Brenda voices her concern that she really doesn't feel well, and she's taking more than the prescribed amount, Alan wonders aloud if there's something else she's really worried about. But he doesn't seem at all concerned that Brenda really does have a problem. At the hospital, Mike tells Sonny he should give Jax a break. Sonny questions his father who tells him emotionally he's the man who saved your life and you're going after his wife. Surprisingly, Sonny agrees to back off and let Brenda handle it, as long as she doesn't take too long. Then after a slight pause he reminds Mike he's not the only one he should be thankful for. He thanks Mike for being there for him. Taggert shows up at the hospital and starts to hassle Sonny again. Sonny tells Taggert we don't have to like each other to work together. Dorman overhears part of the conversation but is called away before he can hear all of it. Sonny knows Harry's partner will be looking for him because he mistakenly believes he can identify him. No big surprise, Taggert doesn't believe Sonny and seems convinced that Sonny is the guilty party. Taggert then pulls Jax to the side and lets him know that Sonny is the reason Harry came back to town. Jax is furious with Sonny and Brenda defends him. This upsets Jax even more and they both agree not to talk about it right now. As they hug, Brenda flashes back to her and Sonny making love. Mike keeps pushing Sonny on his reasons for not pursuing Brenda. He tells Mike he sure of their feelings for each other, and now it's up to Brenda. Besides, as long as Harry's partner mistakenly believes Sonny can identify him, Brenda's life is still in danger. He and Mike brainstorm on who this partner could be. Sonny's convinced the must work at General Hospital. Furthermore, he's probably an intern, who's arrogant, sloppy and believed he knew more than Harry and had nothing to learn. But they both believe he's incapable of moving the heroin through Port Charles and will slip up some way. But they are concerned that he is also very dangerous. While Sonny and Mike are discussing Harry's partner, Dorman is looking for a place to hide the bags of heroin. He stashes them under a sofa cushion when the doorbell rings. It's nurse Rebecca Chase. She knows they shouldn't be seen together, but she just needed to be with him. She doesn't care if anyone knows or if she loses her job. She loves him. Dorman, being the nice guy that he is, makes love to her and tells her she needs to leave. They may not be able to see each other for a very long time. Months even. Rebecca is upset, but he arrogantly tells her he always makes it worth the wait. He wants her to be very careful. Monica's lawyer will be watching her every move and he doesn't want her to lose her job because she lied for him on the stand. He then hides the heroin behind the picture after she leaves. Jax is carrying suitcases from the penthouse when Brenda walks in. While she was waiting in the car she realized there are things they need to talk about. Jax confesses to Brenda that he and Miranda almost made love when he found the letter she left. They didn't, but he begs Brenda to forgive him. She then proceeds to tell him she's not the same woman he loved. There are things that happened in the cave that she needs to tell him. Brenda tries to tell Jax the truth. An emotionally distraught Brenda tells him about her addiction to the pain pills. She's ashamed of herself, but Jax tells her it's no problem, we'll fix it together. He suggests maybe she should be under a doctors care to wean her slowly. She reacts strongly by telling she already talked to Alan who told her it's not a problem. But she knows herself better than that. There's something wrong. She wants him to take the pills and put them someplace she can never find them. He promises her when she feels better, they will fly to New Orleans and get married. She starts to cry and says as long as things are the way they are she can't marry him. All she can think of is wanting another pill. She doesn't feel like she deserves him. Not to worry Jax assures her. He's not going anywhere. He vows he's never going to let her go. The doorbell rings as Mike prepares dinner. He breaks open a bottle of champagne to toast Brenda and Sonny when Sonny opens the door to find Miranda standing there under the pretext that she wants to see how he is. Sonny doesn't believe her for a minute. Sonny asks her to have a drink to his health, but she refuses. She begins the catch on to the fact that something went on between Sonny and Brenda while they were trapped in the cave. Jason informs Sonny he found a warehouse that is perfect for what they need. Jason tells Sonny why Keesha needed to see him. "AJ is drinking again and Keesha thought he could help." He tells Sonny AJ was drinking and driving the night he got hurt. "So AJ drinks because he feels guilty." Sonny doesn't understand why Jason never told him this before. Jason didn't think it was important. "Who cares if it was AJ or Ned." But he would use the information to blackmail the Quartermaines if they tried to remove Sonny from ELQ. Sonny is touched. Jason says the only reason AJ is so upset is because he misses his brother. And for the first time, Jason understands. If he had lost Sonny in the cave in, he would have missed him. Sonny confides to Jason about Brenda's drug problem. They talk about Karen Wexler and her addiction. Sonny tells him everyone thought it was all his fault. Until Karen, he never thought pills were as dangerous as hard drugs. Now he understands. He saw Brenda going through withdrawal, and he couldn't do anything for her but hold her. Drugs kill, he declares. That's why he wants to keep drugs out of Port Charles. Jason assures him that once Harry's partner moves we've got him. "We'd better", states Sonny. Jason tells Sonny that warehouse space is perfect for what they are looking for. Sonny orders a title search and says he'll make up his mind tommorrow. Mike continues to pester Sonny to pursue Brenda. A frustrated Sonny finally explains to Mike about Brenda's drug addiction. He tells him he's giving Brenda space and time to deal with her addiction. Mike thinks Sonny should help her. At the PH, Jax and Brenda cuddle a little. Brenda goes into the bathroom to take the pregnancy test which is negative. Jax thinks she is taking one of her pills. She hides the pregnancy test and lies that she was going to take a bath. While she is being shady about the test Jax becomes convinced that she is taking pills in the bathroom. He goes to the bathroom and she lies to him about ordering them dinner. The two sit down and talk about her addiction. She admits to him how bleak the future seems without her pain pills. When Jax leaves, Brenda flashes back to Sonny in the cave in and is about to take another pill. Brenda is contemplating taking a pill, when someone knocks at her front door. It's Robin! An estatic Brenda confides to Robin what happened between her and Sonny, as well as her addiction to the pain pills. When Robin questions her about what Jax knows, she tells her nothing. "Maybe he'll understand" Robin says. "I told Sonny I love him, I don't think he'll understand that", Brenda replies. Robin tells Brenda that Sonny probably expects her to end her marriage and come to him. Brenda tearfully confesses she is confused and doesn't know what to do. She tells Robin how grateful she is that came by. She feels much better now that she's talked to her. As Robin prepares to leave, Brenda opens door to find Sonny standing there. Robin tells Sonny he needs to leave Brenda alone, even if it hurts him. Sonny promised Robin that he would stay away from Brenda as they discussed Brenda's pill addiction. Brenda tried to come clean to Jax about Sonny, but instead told him that she was going to get local professional help for her problem. Jason arrives and Robin tells them both that the HIV medicine is working. Taggert insinuates that since Sonny was involved in the cave in, all the heroin in Port Charles has dried up. Coincidence? He thinks not. An exasperated Sonny berates Taggert for not doing his job. He warns him if he isn't careful whoever is behind this might pick Taggert as his next victim. He asks Sonny if it's a threat. Then out of nowhere he asks Sonny "Will I end up like Deke with a bullet in my head?" There is dead silence in the room as Mike and Sonny look at each other in astonishment. How does he know about Deke? Taggert tells them Sonny mentioned him when they pulled him up out of the cave in, but no one buys it. Is there some kind of connection? After Taggert leaves, Sonny tells Jason to keep digging into Taggert's background. At the PH, Brenda struggles with withdrawals and Jax is very supportive. Ned visited Brenda and she told him about her drug addiction and withdrawal. Jax overheard Ned admitting to Brenda how he had blackmailed Justus. They talk about Ned and Lois's break-up. Ned and Brenda talk a little about where they've been as friends and about what is going on. After Ned leaves, Brenda arranges to see Kevin Collins for counseling. Jax volunteers to go along, but Brenda wants to handle it alone. She goes to Kevin's lighthouse and talks to him about her addiction to pain pills, her life, and her problems with men. (An excellent scene!). Brenda's insight into herself triggered a craving for more pills and she finally broke down. Jason and Sonny talk about the heroin being back on the streets again. They speculate that Harry's partner must have found someone else to help him distribute it. Sonny tells Jason he feels responsible. He let Harry live, so in a round about way he thinks it's his fault. The person Jason was waiting for has arrived, and Sonny tells him he'll meet him back in the car. While he's alone, Sonny thinks back to when he and Brenda made love. Then he hears Robins words warning him to let Brenda go for now. Sonny and Jason appear in the park Jason doesn't think it's a good idea for Sonny to be out in the open. He's worried that Harry's partner may come after him. Sonny agree's to be more careful. He tells Jason to look around the park and see what he can find and they'll go home. Brenda confides to Kevin that she loves both Jax and Sonny. He advises her that her number one priority right now is to get over her addiction. Then she can work on everything else. Right now, he warns her, is not the time to make any major decisions. She ponders out loud how to tell someone she loves, who loves her, that she made love to someone else. Kevin asks her, "Are you sorry you made love to Sonny?" No, she admits, "she could never be sorry about that." He asks her, "Is he who you want to be with?" Tearfully she admits she doesn't know. All she knows is she wants to take a pill and not feel anything for awhile. Kevin refers her to a woman who he feels will be able to help her. She thanks Kevin and tells him she's glad she came here. He's really helped her alot. Brenda goes home to the penthouse after her meeting with Kevin. Jax has tulips, champagne and a cake he's flown in from Vienna for her birthday. Brenda is touched by all of his kindness. He asks how her session with Kevin went. Very well, she says. Jax promises to be by her side every step of the way, no matter how long it takes. Brenda thanks him, but reminds him she needs to do this herself. She informs him she needs to move out and be by herself for awhile. Jax objects, but she insists. Jax is afraid of the answer, but asks anyway. "Are you leaving me for Sonny?" She looks deeply in his eyes and tells him no. "I wouldn't lie to you about that." Jax agree's to let her go, but tells her he hates this. He can't bear to wake up without her by his side. Tearfully she kisses him and tells him she loves him. "Come home soon", he begs her. Robin stops by to see Brenda. Brenda confides she needs to be on her own, without a man, just to hear herself think. She admits to Robin she is confused and is sorting through many different emotions and feelings. Robin advises her not to be too hard on herself. "Does Sonny know you're here", Robin wants to know. Brenda is afraid if Sonny finds out she's left Jax he may just break down the door and she'd be right back where she was. Robin thinks she is very strong, but Brenda tells her she's just trying to make the right choice for the first time. She does admit however, that she misses Sonny, but is afraid that he may be just another addiction. She needs time to think and to face everything that is hurting her. Brenda calls Jax just to say hi. He tells her he misses her and when this is all over, he'll take her to one of his houses and Fiji. She tells him she'll hold him to it. Mike and Sonny are at the penthouse signing papers for the club. Jason drops by to tell Sonny he may have missed something on Taggert. Mike thinks he may be in the way, and tries to leave, but Sonny tells Jason "anything you have to say, you can say it in front of Mike." Jason asks Sonny if his stepfather's last name was Woods. When Sonny nods his head, Jason proceeds to tell him that when Taggert was 14, he was arrested by an officer named Deacon Woods. It meant nothing to Jason, until Taggert brought up Deke's name the last time he was here. When he looked into it further, he found out that Taggert was working at the same precinct as Deke when he died. Sonny is visibly shaken, but tells Jason to set up a meeting with Taggert in 15 minutes down at the dock. Both Mike and Jason think it's a bad idea for him to go alone, but Sonny is adamant. Sonny and Taggert meet at the dock. They get down to the nitty gritty when Sonny tells him he understands what this is all about now. It's about Deke. Taggert relates his story about how he knows Deke. Apparently, when Taggert was arrested as a teen, Deke convinced the judge to let him go home with his mom rather than be locked up. Deke became a role model to Taggert. He made sure he stayed in school and they became close. Deke "confided" in him that his wife and son ran away and broke his heart. Taggert tells Sonny it was two years before Deke even said Sonny's name, and that was only when Sonny dirtied his name by becoming involved in the mob. Sonny tells Taggert that Deke was just an animal, who used the badge to his advantage, and bullied people who couldn't fight back. "Just like you do Taggert." Taggert responds by saying he didn't see Sonny at the funeral. "He was buried with honors, but that's not the way he died. A bullet to the head, and one through the heart." Alot of his fellow officers thought he was a dirty cop, but none of them knew that his stepson was involved with the mob. The discussion escalates to the point of Taggert trying to provoke Sonny into a fight. He tells Sonny that Deke taught him "a good cop saves lives." He worked with Deke and knows he was good cop. "Just like I know you are a lying, drug dealing pimp. You murdered him, and you're going to pay." Sonny counters by telling Taggert "Deke was found shot in an alley by bullets from his own gun, no prints, but that was years ago. Who cares how a bad cop dies." Sonny says he has an alibi, and Taggert has nothing on him. Taggert says he's been studying him and Sonny has a bad temper. He pushes Sonny around a bit and asks him "How close are you to the edge right now? How bad do you want to kill me?" Sonny reiterates that he has nothing on him, and now that he knows what's behind all this he will bring Taggert down. Taggert points his finger at Sonny and tells him "I know the truth, Deke told me what you did to him and your mother." Sonny reacts very strongly. Taggert implies that he has met Sonny's mother. "She kind of looks like your dead wife" Taggert tells Sonny. He has a couple of questions. "Did you smack your wife around before you had her killed? Off the record, did you do to her like you did to your Mom?" Even though Sonny is livid, he just stares into space. Brenda shows up at Sonny's penthouse. Mike urges her to wait for him. He is so glad to see her. He doesn't want to overstep the boundaries but needs to tell her Sonny has been waiting to see her. She tells him there are some things she needs to say to him face to face. Mike wants her to let Sonny help her but she needs to do this herself. Mike tells her he came here two years ago to look for Sonny. And he got everything he deserved. Sonny was very unforgiving and never gave second chances. But he watched Stone die and it changed him. He believes in second chances now. "And he wants one with you", he says. "He won't hurt you, and he'll do his very best to make you happy." Brenda is very emotional and tells him she first needs to learn to love someone without losing herself. Mike implores her to wait for Sonny, he'll be home soon. "Don't make up your mind about anything until you see him", he says before he leaves. After Mike leaves, she flashes back to a passionate encounter with Sonny (after the Nurse's Ball when she was newly married to Jax), and she panics. Taggert tells Sonny that Deke told him Sonny beat his Mom and put her in the hospital. "I saw her. Deke asked me to come by and sit with her. Her eyes were swollen shut, she had a broken jaw, broken arm and ribs. I told Deke to swear out a complaint against you, but he said your Mom would never sign it. I guess you were afraid of Deke or thought Mom would press charges so you had him killed before she even left the hospital." Sonny warns him to get away from him. Taggert taunts him wanting to know if Sonny is going to jump him or hit him. Very calmly, Sonny says no, he's not going to hurt him because, "he'll never let Deke win." He goes on to inform Taggert that he found his Mom on the floor. Beat worse than she'd ever been by Deke. He broke down the door and called an ambulance. He got her a private room, and sat with her all night. Taggert must have gotten there after he left. Deke never showed his face. "You lie", Taggert snarls. "What's the matter? Are your rose colored memories turning bloody? HE hit her. He started three weeks after they were married, right up until the day he died." He asks Taggert to think back on how Deke was with a perp. He had a great technique. He had plenty of practice. He practiced on he an his mom at home. Taggert growls "You are not going to tarnish his memory like you did his reputation." Sonny laughs. "What reputation" he wants to know, "He was dirt and everyone knew it except you." Taggert gets so upset he pulls his gun and levels it at Sonny. He warns Taggert go ahead and shoot him, but he has people who will avenge his death. A voice comes out of the dark, it's Luke. Taggert puts away the gun and leaves by telling Sonny he's not giving up. "WRONG detective", Sonny replies. Luke asks Sonny what that jerk wanted, and Sonny tells him the lies Deke told Taggert. "I wish Deke alive so I could kill him myself. I thought of it lots of times, but I was just a kid." Luke wants to know what he's gonna do about Taggert. Sonny is waiting because he want's to see if he's a dirty cop, and if so, who he's working for. He thanks Luke for being there. Not a problem Luke tells him. DVD #16B Sonny returns home to find Brenda waiting for him. Brenda apologizes to Sonny and tells him Mike let her in. He looks so happy to see her and moves to give her a hug and a kiss, but Brenda pulls away. She blames her behavior on her getting off the pills and he's very encouraging. She wanted to tell him before he heard it from anyone else that she had moved into another hotel without Jax, so she could clear her head. she tells him she can't think straight because there is so much noise in her head. She doesn't know who she is. Sonny is trying to be patient and understanding, but he is getting confused. She could have phoned and told him that she needed to be alone. But she showed up here and that must mean something. They stand very close together and almost kiss but Brenda pulls away again. She reminds him that her issues are very important to her and he's not listening to her. "Why are you fighting this so hard?", Sonny asks her. "Because I don't know yet if it's the same thing as my taking another pill" she answers tearfully. Sonny wants to know why she's so hard on herself. He tells her he'll help her because he loves her. She says, "you don't know what my problem is do you? I'm afraid to be alone." Once she knows who she is and faces this problem alone then she'll be able to make decisions. She asks him if he understands and he tells her he's trying, but frankly, no he doesn't. She looks at him sadly and tells him "Then we have a problem" before she leaves. Mike and Luke are having coffee at Luke’s when Sonny comes in. He's very irritable and Mike guesses he was up late with Brenda, who he hopes has spent the night. He pushes Sonny for details and Sonny tells him that Brenda needs space. He's very sarcastic and Mike understands. "You pushed her didn't you?" he questions Sonny. Sonny just isn't in the mood for Mikes questions today. Robin calls Sonny at the bar, and tells him Jason dropped her off at college to head back to Port Charles. Sonny wonders out loud why Jason hasn't checked in. When Jason does make it to Luke’s, Sonny is relieved to see him. As he relates his story to Sonny, Sonny berates him for not calling or using back up. "What if he had a gun?" Jason says, "Oh he did. But he pulled it on AJ." Sonny wants to know what AJ has to do with this. Jason explains that AJ was trying to get Dorman out of town. But the reason Jason was there was because he was trying to understand why Dorman was so nervous. He just has a gut feeling about it. Sonny has a flashback to the night he was lured to the hospital and injected with the heroin. "Damn", he says to no one in particular. Brenda goes to Lucy's house. Lucy has just gotten there herself and found a note from Kevin saying he had meetings with the Cassadines all day, and couldn't wait for her. Brenda confesses to Lucy that for the last year she's been addicted to pain pills. She knows Lucy showed alot of faith in her, and put a lot of time and money into their Jax campaign. She admits she was very irresponsible, and she is sorry. She tells her she will make it up to her. Lucy is very kind and understanding and reminds Brenda they used to be friends. She thinks Brenda is a very brave woman. She felt a little left out in the cold lately, but assures her nothings changed. It's business as usual. She says she's aware she's no Lois, but if Brenda ever needs a female friend, she's available. They hug and Brenda leaves. Mac shows up at Luke’s to talk to Sonny. He tells him Taggert filed a report as an official record to show that Sonny has it in for him. "So he covered his butt in advance", Sonny tells Mac. "Advance of what?" Mac wants to know. "Ask him", Sonny replies. Mac tells him Taggert mentioned he knew and admired Sonny's stepfather. He also suggested that Sonny had a personal vendetta because he hated the man. He tells Mac that Taggert saw his stepfather as a mentor, and credits Deke with making him the cop he is today. He got himself transferred here to make him pay for Deke's death. Mac asks him if he's being paranoid. "Ask him, you know cops never lie", Sonny says. Well Mac doesn't need a cop on the force with a personal agenda, and threatens to fire him. Sonny convinces him not to fire him, but to leave him where he is. It's better for him to believe he's gotten away with last night, and that we're not on the same side Sonny tells Mac. Mac asks him if he still believes he's behind the drug influx, the one Taggert is trying to pin on him. Sonny won't commit himself to anything, but he'll keep Mac informed of anything that comes up. Brenda writes Sonny a letter telling him her reasons for needing to be alone right now. She assures him in the letter that making love to him meant everything in the world to her. She meant it when she told him she loved him. But she needs to be in control. It's hard enough under normal circumstances, but impossible when she's around him. She needs him to understand. She doesn't know how long it will be before she can look into his eyes and not disappear and lose herself. But when she can, he'll see a whole new person standing in front of him. He might not even like her anymore. She hopes she likes herself. She asks him to wish her luck, and wish her strength. She goes to Luke's to give him the letter, but Mike tells her he's out. She asks Mike to give him the letter. Mike promises to do just that. Sonny is at the hospital waiting for Miranda to arrive. While he paces he notices Dorman, who's talking to a nurse. He flashes back to the night he was lured to the hospital. when he see's Jason, he asks him to get him a picture of Dorman and to keep the pressure on him. Jason wants to know what he's got. “A feeling”, Sonny says, “just a feeling”. Mike calls Sonny and leaves a message regarding Brenda's letter. He says Brenda wanted him to know it was important, so he's going to bring it by himself. Brenda and Jax meet over dinner. After Brenda's lackluster greeting, he is sure she is here to tell him goodbye. She apologizes, explaining she didn't mean to make him feel that way. She called him because she missed him and wanted to see him. They talk for a little while, but it's obvious to Jax that Brenda is not ready to move back in. He assures her he will wait for her. She asks him if she can stop by the penthouse to pick up a few of the things she left behind. She tells him she doesn't trust herself to be in the same room with him as long as there is a bed so close by. They agree sex was never a problem between them. Jax hesitates to ask, but wants to know if she used the drugs to tolerate being with him. She reassures him the medication was helping her deal with her pain, not to avoid her feelings for him. Awkwardly, they say goodbye, with a very confused and dejected Jax being left behind. Dorman becomes uncomfortable under Sonny's intense gaze. He walks up to him and coldly asks him if he can help him with something. Miranda comes up from behind and gets Sonny's attention. Dorman is surprised to see her and says "so we meet again." She gives him a disinterested smile and barely acknowledges him. "why did you want to see me", she demands from Sonny. Sonny quickly answers, "I wanted to ask you a few questions about Jax and Brenda", and excuses himself from Dorman. Walking her quickly away, he explains he doesn't really want to talk about Jax and Brenda, he just didn't want Dorman to get the wrong idea. He wants to know if Miranda knows the doctor. She says no, but she did get the oddest feeling when she first met him that she had seen him before. Sonny doesn't want to talk to her at the hospital and asks her to come back to his place, it's important. She agrees and they leave. Dorman watches them as they leave. Mike is waiting at Sonny's apartment when Miranda and Sonny arrive. Sonny impatiently wants Mike to leave. Mike is trying to let him know the letter he has is very important without letting on to Miranda that it is from Brenda. Sonny is not getting the hint, and just tells him to leave it on the table. Mike has no choice but to do as he asks. Sonny and Miranda talk about Dorman, and try to figure out where they knew him from. Miranda looks at the letter and recognizes the handwriting from Brenda's "Dear John" letter. When Sonny goes to make coffee, she picks up the letter and goes into the bathroom. There she turns on the hot water and steams open the letter. She finds out Sonny and Brenda made love when they were in the cave. After reading it she reseals the envelope with nail polish and puts it back on the table before Sonny notices. She leaves Sonny's and heads over to Jax's penthouse. Sonny wants to know what Miranda remembers from the airport the day Dorman came in. Miranda leaves and Sonny reads the letter. Brenda calls Mike and asks if Sonny got the letter. He tells her he brought it over to his penthouse and made sure Sonny knew it was important. Brenda asks him if he was there when Sonny read it, but Mike tells her he was in a meeting when he got there. But not to worry, he tells her. "I told him it was important." Brenda is leaving the penthouse with the rest of her belongings. Just as she opens the door to leave, Miranda is arriving. Miranda and Brenda square off in Jax' penthouse. Miranda can't wait to let Brenda know she offered Jax a shoulder to cry on when she found out Brenda had left him. Brenda demands to know how she found out, and Miranda tells her it was from Robin. Brenda tells a dumbfounded Miranda there is no way Robin would discuss her personal life with Miranda and she is forced to admit she over heard Robin telling Mac. Miranda thinks Brenda has moved back in with Jax and tells Brenda she is happy for Jax, because he was just devastated when she left him. Brenda accuses Miranda of circling like a vulture waiting for he to leave Jax so Miranda can move in on Jax. Brenda informs the first Mrs. Jacks, he loves me. "Even if I did leave him, I don't think he'd go back to you. He doesn't love you like that anymore." Miranda seems on the verge of saying something else to her, but instead she just walks out of the penthouse. Brenda is really shook up with this encounter and searches through her suitcase to find an extra bottle of the medicine she has hidden in there. She stops herself before she takes any, and leaves the penthouse also. She stops down at the restaurant to say goodbye and lets Jax know that Miranda stopped by. "Oh, really", he replies, "what does she want?" Brenda smiles sadly and says, "You." Sonny reads the letter Brenda wrote him. He's very disappointed that she doesn't want his help to kick the drug addiction. After pacing the floor he decides to write Brenda a letter back. When he's done, Jason arrives at the penthouse. He asks him to hand deliver the message to Brenda. Jason gives him the picture of Dorman he had asked for. Sonny doesn't think he needs it anymore, but it's a good thing to keep, just in case. Jason tells him he has been following Dorman and was surprised to see him cozying up to Jax of all people. Sonny seems surprised, but assures Jason he'll get to the bottom of that. Brenda arrives back at the hotel room and frantically searches through her suitcase for the pills. When she finds them she runs to the bathroom and flushes them down the toilet. She calls her therapist and asks for an emergency session. Gratefully, she thanks her for making time in her busy schedule for her. She assures her she'll be fine till then, and hangs up the phone. There's a knock on the door, and Brenda's surprised to find Jason there. He gives her the envelope and asks if she's okay. She says yes, but he hesitates for just a moment before leaving. She stops him and asks him if he'll tell Sonny.... "Never mind", she says as she changes her mind and closes the door. Jason updated Sonny on what had happened with AJ, and Sonny talked with Luke about what Dorman had done to the Quartermaines. Sonny and Luke put things together and suspected that Dorman was the one responsible for drugging Sonny and the increased flow of drugs in Port Charles. Sonny told Luke about his Dorman suspicions, but was afraid that Jason would wind up being blamed if something fatal happened to Dorman. Brenda feels guilty about Emily, but Jax comforts her. Sonny arrives and looks a little stricken to see them together. Brenda saw that Ned had been deeply affected by Emily's overdose and learned that Jax had blackmailed Ned. Brenda did not have a problem with Jax's actions and realized how Emily's plight was similar to her own. At the hospital, Sonny stayed clear of Brenda, but saw that Dorman had become nervous when Taggert questioned everyone about Emily and the drugs. Ned told Brenda that it was the Quartermaine family that had driven Emily to do drugs, and was relieved that his daughter would not have to grow up with them. Brenda approaches Sonny outside of GH, but the subject soon turned to Jax. Brenda saw similarities between her situation with Jax and Sonny's relationship with Lily. They have a great talk about how hard it is to do the right thing sometimes. Brenda tells Sonny that she never told Jax about sleeping with Sonny, that she wasn't honest with Jax about sleeping with Sonny when they were trapped in the cave. She knows she has to tell Jax but without her pills she doesn't feel that she has any courage anymore. Sonny tells her about his lying to Lily. He says he should have left Lily sooner but he didn't. He made a deal with the devil (Lily's father) and he can't change what happened. Sonny tells her how his step-father Deke who beat him up and locked him in the closet, is a hero to Taggert. That blows his mind that this man who abused him, helped other's as a cop and that is why Taggert hates him so much. Sonny confronts her about loving him and asks what is she going to do about it? She tells him that loving him can't be what she is all about, that she has to put herself first now (refering to her recovery from her pill addiction). Sonny is supportive of her, they talk about change and about each other. Brenda is impressed and told him that they just "communicated on a whole new level." She says maybe they should always meet in public places with lots of people around. He jokes that maybe they should go bowling. They're very sweet to each other and share a long embrace before parting. She tells him he is her friend. Miranda watches them from afar and as soon as Brenda leaves, she approaches Sonny and makes some digs about his meeting with Brenda. Sonny shuts her down masterfully, but Miranda hints that she knows Brenda was unfaithful to Jax. Brenda talked with Kevin about whether to tell Jax that she had slept with Sonny. She tells him she feels terribly guilty about what she's putting Sonny and Jax through. She says she needs to tell Jax everything, but Kevin says she doesn't need to rush anything. Kevin told Brenda to make sure that she was clear about what she wanted in her life before breaking the news to Jax. Meanwhile, Sonny and Miranda faced off about Brenda and Jax. Sonny accused Miranda of stockpiling ammo to win Jax back. Sonny ruffled Miranda's feathers by intimating that Jax had no interest in her. Taggert tried to tell Sonny that he was wrong in suspecting that he had been involved with the drug trade in Port Charles. Before Taggert could explain himself to Sonny, Mac arrived and informed them that Matt had died of a drug overdose. Taggert was shocked by the news and he blasted Sonny and Mac and told Mac that he was too close to Sonny. Mac defended his treatment of Sonny and threatened to fire Taggert if he continued his personal vendetta against Sonny. Taggert assured Mac that he was being objective and they began working on a strategy. Brenda arrived at Jax's penthouse only to see that Miranda was also there. Miranda tried to lure Brenda into confessing about her night with Sonny, but an unaware Jax defended Brenda and asked Miranda to leave. Brenda, however, was unable to tell Jax that she had slept with Sonny. Later, Miranda confronted Brenda and told her to come clean. Brenda learned that Miranda knew that she had slept with Sonny in the catacombs. Miranda said that if Brenda did not tell Jax the truth, she would. Jax saw Miranda threatening Brenda and blasted Miranda for her behavior. Brenda tries to tell Jax the truth, but she can't follow through. Brenda learns that Jax was going out of town. At Luke's, Mike and Sonny lament the drug use by kids and the death of Matt Reynolds (Emily's pusher friend). Lucy talks to Mike and Sonny at Luke's. She tries to talk them into doing an act at the Nurse's Ball. They're not remotely interested. Lucy tells Sonny she knows about Brenda; Sonny is glad she knows and encourages her to offer support and help since Brenda won't take help from him. Jason arrives and Sonny tells him that Dorman is behind the whole drug trade in Port Charles. Sonny saw that Jason wanted to retaliate immediately and had to order him to stay cool for now. Luke and Sonny talk briefly. Sonny runs into Brenda in the elevator and they talk. She tells him she's going to tell Jax, but Sonny says there's no hurry if the timing is wrong. Brenda then went to face Miranda about her ugly ultimatum. Brenda told Miranda that she would not be blackmailed into telling Jax that she had slept with Sonny. Brenda made it clear that she would tell Jax the truth when she was ready. At Luke's, Sonny and Luke prepare for the arrival of All-4-One. Brenda shows and tells Sonny she's going to tell Jax. He's tells her to call him if she needs a friend. Sonny talks to Lucky about the drug suppliers. Brenda becomes worried about where Jax is. His plane was supposed to arrive a while ago. She calls the pilot of the company plane to see if the plane was late. He tells her they arrived early. Dr. Dorman comes to see Jax, to Brenda's surprise and disgust. He asks to stay and wait until Jax gets home, but she says that she does not want to make small talk with him. Dorman gives his business card and tells Brenda to have Jax call him. Jax finally arrives home, having been told by Miranda about Brenda's infidelity. Jax and Brenda came to an understanding. She started to tell him about Sonny and the cave-but he stopped her. He told her that whatever happened in the cave helped her get off the pills and helped them both eventually realize they needed to be apart for now. He didn't want to know what the details were about the happenings in the cave, just like she didn't need to know the details of what was said exactly with Miranda. He said they needed to let each other go for now, he missed her and was afraid he will lose her forever. They agreed it was for the best. He still wants a future with her and was interested to see what will happen. Miranda told Sonny about her memory flashback regarding Dorman which lead Sonny to believe that he had enough evidence against him. Sonny goes looking for Miranda at her house to find out the information she knows about the drug ring. Brenda arrives there soon after because she also wanted to talk to Miranda. Sonny and Brenda both look for her at her apartment; Sonny is cross that Brenda still hasn't told Jax. They rush to the airport looking for her. Right after the plane leaves the gate, Sonny and Brenda arrive. Sonny tries to stop the plane, but the airline employee says she cannot do anything about it. Brenda tries to explain to Jax why she is there with Sonny. Jax stops her and says she is on her own and that she doesn't have to be accountable to him anymore. As Jax goes to leave on his trip the police stop him and show him a warrant to search his bags. They find heroin in his carry-on bag and the DEA arrests him. Brenda insists that he is innocent and defends him. Brenda asks Sonny if he had anything to do with Jax being arrested? |
