December 31, 2007 - Monday

Snowy most of the day.

Today was better than yesterday. I got up for the first time before 10 to watch the news, but it wasn't on. Sadly, what was on was soccer, so I went back to bed. I got up again around 12. I showered and got dressed.

We stayed around the apartment for quite a while, then finally went out around 3. We went to Moku-Moku, but they were closed, so we ended up at Gusto. We had quite a feast there. We had coupons for Fries, drink bar, and dessert so we used them all. The dessert was really nice. It was a frozen marscapone thing with nuts. Mega yum.

After lunch we went to Yamaya, the foreign foods place, and picked up a few things. I was very restrained there. Then, we headed over to our own grocery store as we both decided we knew where everything was. We got nama soba for later tonight, plus a pizza and some chicken and veggies for tomorrow. I'll probably cook dinner tomorrow night.

Then we came home. Sadly, Fumihiko decided to spend 4 hours watching some boxing/kick-boxing/stupid fighting thing on the TV, which basically relegated me to my computer. However, ha! I had assumed that something so awful would happen, so I kept a couple of episodes of Dexter on tap for myself. So, while he was watching men doing unmentionable things to each other, I was watching a man doing unmentionable things to others. I think I won that one!

Around 11:30 I started to get a bit indignant and basically demanded that Fumihiko start cooking for our dinner. He did us proud. He made two heaping plates of soba, with dip and negi and nori. It was really great. When midnight came I leaned in for a kiss, but someone had a mouth full of soba! Finally though, I got my first kiss of the year. Yay. After we finished the soba, we were too full for the pizza, so I got out my box of mincemeat tarts. I put half of them on a tray, preheated my toaster oven and then heated them up. I served them with cream poured over them. Oh, were they ever good. It's been a long time since I've had mincemeat tarts. Fumihiko liked them too but turned down seconds. They aren't a dish that you can eat a lot of at one sitting.

We watched a bit of a show that listed the top 100 rock songs of all time. Sadly, we didn't get to see all of it. It was quite fun. I didn't know all the music, but I did know most of it.

And that was that. My year ended rather nicely. And, 2008 began at home, quietly and pleasantly. I hope it stays that way.
