January 1, 2008 - Tuesday -- Happy New Year

Snow and cold. Brrr!

Today was quite boring. I got up around 9:30 to see if there was any news in English on, but there wasn't. I had a headache too, so I took some medicine and went back to bed. I did get my nengajo first though. I got a few this year, and they were very nice. I didn't get some from some people that I was half expecting to get from though.

I slept till the afternoon. I tried waking up a couple of times, but it didn't work. I finally got up and dressed. We had our pizza and then watched The Three Amigos on WOWOW. It was silly and fun. It was nice to watch something together.

Fumihiko wanted to go out after the movie, so we did. He needed gas for his car, so we stopped at the station, got some, and then swung by my school for a mail/nengajo check. I'd gotten a few at my school, so brought them with me. Fumihiko wanted to eat something, but I wasn't hungry. My nose is both running and plugged up, so I just don't get hungry. Plus, I was supposed to cook at home tonight.

We drove around our city but nothing looked promising so Fumihiko headed out of town. The road was really icy and it was quite windy too. We ended up in Sakata, driving around. At first he tried to go to the Indian restaurant, but it was closed. He was going to leave the city but I said that since we'd driven all the way there it would be a waste to go home right away. So, we drove further into Sakata, and stopped at the Hotel Rich and Garden. We ended up having a very nice expensive dinner there. It was a special meal for New Years and included roast beef, crab and sushi. I found my appetite was there after all, and enjoyed my dinner.

We came back to Tsuruoka and to the grocery store. Then, home. At home, he started watching more of the awful Japanese TV that's on at this time of year, and I asked him why he liked it. He got mad and stormed out.

He came back a bit later, determined to be angry with me. Don't much care really. I went into the bedroom and told him that I didn't want to start the new year this way. He's still angry with me, but hopefully he'll get over it soon.

Me, I'm typing away, another headache building up. I don't really feel like going to bed now though.

The big mistake we made this Christmas holidays was not to have any plans. Every day I've asked him what he'd like to do, and I get the same question fired back at me. I have no money and am not feeling that great, so I don't want to do anything. I don't want to watch inane Japanese television though. Either tomorrow or Thursday, I'll go over to my school to get it cleaned up and ready for the next year of classes.
