Super
marine Spitfire MK II
Wingspan
: 67 inch ( 1680mm ) |
Length
: 48 inch |
High wing air foil NACA 1212.. |
Weight : 7,6 lbs |
Engine : 61- 91 Two
cycle Nitro engine |
Contruction :
All wood air frame & thin layer solar film covered . |
Radio :

The
difficulty to build the SuperSpitfire is it wing .The origine
airfoil of the supermarine spitfire Mk II is NACA 2213 with a
thickness-to-chord ratio of 13% at the root and reducing 9.3% at
the wing tip The dehydral angle are 6 degrees .I decide
the NACA of my Supermarine Spitfire was 1212 .. and reducing 8% at
the wing tip, dehydral angle was 3 degrees . More light , strong material had
been used to contruct
this model airplane ;but the balsa wood is usually the good materiel to
made it. The contruction of this aiplane is all balsa wooden
air-frame; covered by thin black car glass solar film with
enamel army color paint . The second difficulty of this is
the retractable gear ( see on the next ) .
Wing : Was an 980
square inch and all wooden contructional wing .The
wing- airfoil is NACA 1212 reducing 8% the
thickness-to-chord ratio at the wing tip . The two aileron system
( see figures ) .are independable . Each control by one 3,5 Kg
servos , installed hide into the wing .The hinges of the
aileron are fourth piece of x ray film and installed at the
middle of the rear wing bar . More hole in the wing foil
lamina was reduce more the total weight of the wing . All
covered by black glass-car solar film and high enamel
color paint . |
|
Fuselage :The
main contruction of the fuselage is all wooden air-frame with
four main bar 7/7 x 120 of epine hard wood ( see plan ) . The
standing of nitro engine is alumium standing engine or hard
wood standing deck fixed on two layer of plywood ( see pic ). Down
2 to 2.5 degree and 1,5-1,7 degree to the right of the engine axis are require .The fiberglass canopy
and wide sufficement opening air intake had given a very good form and firm mouting (see pic ) . |
|
|
The attachement of the wing to the fuselage is
eight long screew fixed to the fuselage ( see pic ) |
|
Engine : You can
use the engine from .61-91. The 61 ASP nitro engine and 45
degrees right down was choice . To augmente the power of this
engine , I change the standard muffler by an new type muffler (
see pic ) , and by this I can use the
13x6 propeller with any trouble
Gear system : This was a scale retractable gear which
i can do ( only one in R/C airplane world ..) . All contruction
is stainless steel tube , sprintable and solder by high plasma argon
sold -tech . Thirty degrees external and back into the wing when
retracted . Eight degrees in front and fifty degrees on exterior
with the vertical axis when the gear was down . The choice of
the angle of the wheel axe was a simple mathematic
solution
.. ( see pic ) . Retract activity of the gear dominate only by
one servos 10,5 Kg installing on the middle of the
wing ( see pic ).
R/C system , servo & other link installation :
Four 3,5kg-servo for elevator , rudder , aileron & one mini servo
for throttle-valve .
An 10,5kg servo was using for retractable gear . The
battery are
fixed in high , middle of the fuselage and adjust for the CG (
Center of gravity ) at 25%-27% from the front of the wing cross section . The receiver
was place on the highest of the fuselage in the pilot copit
and sticking on the base of a rubber foam-sheet for reduce the vibration of
engine and the shock ( see pic ) . |
|
The rudder and elevator's rod
are two 2/8 carbone rod tube with two 2/32 steel wire fixed
at the end ( see pic ) . These are light , hard and had
any trouble in working Rudder , elevator , aileron adjust & flying test : Up
2/3 and down 1/3 inch for elevator . Right 3/4 and lelf 3/4 for
rudder and 1/2 inch for the aileron . On the first fly ,
reduce some in the angle-effect for the aileron an elevator
and slight trim down on elevator ( on the first test flight ).

On a
clear and calm sunday morning , I made my first flying test ...... |
