Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat

Chapter #3
Earth's Forces

5-19-98, 9:27 p.m. Pentagon, Washington D.C.

Colonel William Guile briskly walked into the conference room. "What now?" he asked as he saw the room filled with his superiors.
"Umm, sir? Why was I called out of my mission for this conference?"
General Shuttlesworth answered, "You will be briefed when everyone arrives."
Guile sat and looked around the room. Not only did he see all of his superiors, he saw about twelve generals he had never seen before wearing medals he had never seen. Guile annoyingly tapped his nails on the table. He was angry that they recalled him to D.C. just as he was about to get a tip on the location of Bison. And now it looked like they were going to take him out of that mission and put him in this one. As he saw the angry stares at his fingernail tapping, he saw that this wasn't a little mission. This looked along the lines of international importance.
Just as he pondered on that, the door opened. Out of the door came, along with two large black men, the most beautiful woman Guile had ever laid his eyes on. She was in her mid twenties, blond and looked like a supermodel. She walked with the sort of confidence that made everyone in the room respect her. "Major Sonya Blade, Captain Jax, and Lieutenant Dee Jay reporting for duty, sir."
Guile stared at her all the way from the door until she sat down. As she looked at him, he faced forward. "No time for kids games," he said to himself, "need to get down to work."
"Now we are ready to start," said a general that Guile had never seen before. As he walked to the front of the room Guile saw that he had five stars! "Wait a second? That's impossible," Guile thought to himself, "There are only a couple of five star generals out there and I know them both. Who is this guy?"
"My name is General Nightwolf. I report to a top-secret branch of the CIA. We deal with the worldwide issues that don't have an immediate threat to the U.S., but might in the future. A mission of great worldwide emergency has come to our attention. Through ancient Chinese scriptures we have located a more immediate evil than Colonel Guile's Bison or Major Blade's Kano. His name is Shao Kahn and is the leader of a great empire. Do you know why both Bison and Kano disappeared? To join Shao Kahn's forces. And we need you to stop Kahn before he conquers the world."
Guile stood up, "Sir, if this Shao Kahn was so powerful, why are we just now hearing of him?"
"Because Colonel, he is from another dimension."
"What!?!" asked Guile and Sonya at the same time. Their eyes met for a second and then slowly parted. Sonya stood up and said, "Sir? Are you joking? I mean do you expect us to believe that this guy Shao Kahn is from a different dimension? No, that's…that's impossible."
"No," corrected General Nightwolf, "it isn't impossible and it's no joke. We have found and opened an inter-dimensional gateway between his dimension and ours. The threat is very much real. We have an immediate problem, and you four are the answer. Yes, you four are going to go through the gate way and eliminate Shao Kahn and his forces A.S.A.P."
"Why us, sir. Why don't you send a nuke or an army through or something? Why just the four of us?" Asked Lieutenant Dee Jay, talking for the first time in the meeting.
"Because, we have the measurements of the realm and it is twelve times the size of earth. Which means we have no way to be sure that Shao Kahn will be eliminated in the blast. So if he doesn't die from the blast, he will strike us back with the type of firepower that will easily destroy the earth. So, we picked from the few people who could focus their Ki to shoot energy bursts because that ability is far better than any weapons we have been able to come up with. The four of you, being able to shoot projectiles, like fireballs, on command is what we need to take out Shao Kahn."
Captain Jax asked, "Why four? Why don't you get superstars like Ken Masters or Johnny Cage to help us? They can shoot their Ki just as well as us. Why just us four?"
"Because, the gate only lets in four people at a time. And you four are the most qualified for this mission. So you are our only chance. If you don't make it back out, no one else will ever be able to get in. We will then be helpless."
"What happened to Ken Masters," asked Guile, " I heard he disappeared. Could he have joined Shao Kahn?"
"That is what we suspect. But at this time no information can confirm it. Masters, Bison, and Kano seemed to vanish at the same instant. They might all be with Shao Kahn at this very moment. That's why the sooner you go, the better. At this moment he, with the help of Kano, Bison and Masters, are recruiting for the onslaught. Well, do you accept the mission?"
Dee Jay answered, "We have no choice, it's either us or kiss the world bye."
Guile asked looking at Sonya, "Sir, who is leading the mission?"
General Nightwolf looked at the other generals who leaned into a crude huddle. Suddenly the room erupted with murmuring, lasting only a few minutes, and just as quick as it had started, it stopped. An obese man went up to Nightwolf and whispered something in his ear.
"Well, who?" asked the impatient Guile.
Nightwolf answered. "Major Blade. Everyone reports to Major Blade. Do you understand Colonel?"
Guile clenched his teeth and fists. He was humiliated. He had never in years been overlooked for the lead command. He looked at Sonya who was looking back at him. "Great, a girl," he said to himself.
"Well, Colonel?"
"Sir, yes sir," was all Guile said as he left the room to pack his bags.

Raiden's Realm

"You call this training? I still have no idea how this will help us fight better?" asked Ken who was getting impatient.
"Quiet," said Raiden, "you are breaking the flow of Ki."
They all sat upon the ground in a circle meditating. Raiden had told them that doing this in his realm would increase the power of their attacks. While Ryu and Lou Kang were committed to trust in Raiden's methods, Ken was a little more than skeptical.
"Why don't we just fight? That would help us the most. Why just sit there with your eyes closed? We need to practice."
Raiden teleported behind Ken, "Why don't you just try it Masters?"
Ken jumped in fright. He was still not used to Raiden's powers. "Well…um. Why not? Hanging out with you guys is boring anyways. I'd rather be sleeping.
Ken sat down in Indian style, crossed his fingers and started humming.
"That is not meditating. Just sit and concentrate on your Ki," Raiden told Ken.
Ken thought to himself, "How am I supposed to do that? This is dumb."
Just as he said that his mind took over, suddenly he was on a roller coaster flowing deep into his mind. Colors were flashing every where. Up became down, left was transformed forward, and forward then became backwards. Through all these confused images and feelings, Ken actually felt calmer then, then he ever had in his entire life. Suddenly, his mind stopped. All went blank. Ken looked down, he didn't see anything! His body wasn't there! But somehow he knew how to move. As he moved forward he heard footsteps. He looked down again. Still no legs. Footsteps without feet, he thought to himself.
Suddenly he saw a light. The light entranced him. All he could think was to get to that light. He walked towards the light. As he got there, he noticed it was getting larger and larger. The light was changing colors like a disco light. It was beautiful. Suddenly Ken knew it was his Ki. As he held it in his hands it started growing even faster. As it got to the size of a car it started to get heavy. Ken strained to hold it. It kept growing and growing, faster and faster.
It grew so large that Ken had trouble holding it. He strained to hold the magnificent light, but suddenly Ken couldn't hold it anymore. He let it fall out of his hands and as soon as it hit the ground everything started to crack like glass. As Ken looked down he fell. He yelled and yelled as he fell for what seemed to be hours.
"Ken! Ken!" It sounded like Ryu!
"Ryu!", Ken yelled as he opened his eyes. Ryu and Lou Kang were there shaking him and trying to wake him up.
"We started to wake you up from your meditation as soon as you started yelling." Lou Kang told Ken.
"It took you guys long enough. Gosh, what time is it? How long have I been out for?", Ken asked.
"Ken," Ryu said, "you were only out for a couple of minutes. Two or three at the most."
Ken got to his feet. "Wow! I feel different. Like I'm more powerful or something."
Lou Kang answered, "Ken you are, watch what me and Ryu can do."
Lou Kang did a 20 foot bicycle kick from a normal standing position. He didn't even have jump in the air! It looked more natural than a normal attack. He then shot his fireballs but now they moved at least 30 times faster. It literally was hard to follow with your eyes.
"Ok," said Ryu, "now it's my turn."
Ryu suddenly went, hiaryuken! And out came an enormous bluish white fireball. It was a little larger than Ryu himself and streaked through the air. Although it wasn't as fast as Lou Kang's fireballs, the size made it just as or even more dangerous.
Ken stood mouth open and amazed, "Ryu, either you got really, really good while traveling the world or that meditating really helped! How did you shoot your fireball so fast, I mean it took you a second to shoot it! And.... and the size. Is your Ki drained? And why was it that color?"
Ryu smiled, "Umm, the answer to your first question is instead of taking five seconds to shoot a fireball, with this new power, it only takes one. And Raiden said that now, instead of only shooting your fireball and one speed and power, you can modify them to save Ki. But so far I haven't even felt weak at all from loss of Ki, so I guess we have more now. When you shoot at top speed and power it goes so fast and is so powerful that it glows a bluish white color."
Ken asked, "Can I do it?"
Ryu shrugged, "Ask Raiden. He said that even though two people have the same training, the two people's abilities aren't."
Ken looked at Raiden who was about 70 yards away. He decided to call him over, "Raid-''
Suddenly, Raiden appeared next to him. "What do you want mortal?"
Ken jumped. He again forgot that he had those amazing powers. "Jeez, maybe you should warn people before you do that! Um, can I shoot fireballs like Ryu can?"
"I don't know. Maybe you should try before you ask."
Ken smiled, embarrassed on his stupid question. Ken opened his mind, took a deep breath, pictured the fireball in his head, focused and…
"Hiaryuken!"
The fireball was larger than anything he had ever thrown in all his years of training, but only got half the size of the one Ryu's was.
"Well, that answers my question. Ryu is really stronger than me now. Now thanks to Raiden my best opponent is now better than me."
"Ken," Ryu called to his disappointed friend, "Man, you always gave up too easy. Stay strong. Try your favorite move, the Shoryuken Uppercut. You always used to get me with that one."
Ken smiled, "Yeah, that was my move wasn't it? Ok. I'll give it a try. Watch out."
Ken kneeled down low, "Sho…"
Ken's eyes suddenly lost its pupils, "ryu…"
His right fist started glowing, "ken!"
In a split second Ken, in a blaze of speed and power, rotated through the air with streaks of fire flowing from his glowing body. Fist high in the air and wind flowing through his hair and cooling his body, he magically flew through the air and softly landed on his feet.
Ryu's mouth was wide open. "That was the coolest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. I mean that was…it was, cool!"
Ken smiled, "I knew I had it in me. I was only joking before."
"I mean come on, I always knew I could do that," Ken looked around to faces that showed no signs of gullibility, "Hey, really. I did!"

Outside Shao Kahn's Castle

Montaro smiled as his guards cornered the fugitive. "Finally, I will get the credit that I deserve. No more will Shao Kahn think I am worthless," he thought to himself, "I'm am the man!"
Just then he saw the fugitive start to power up. He was suddenly surrounded in a fierce blazing fire as he started to glow. The fugitive looked into the air as he screamed in the release of pure energy that sent the first line of Montaro's army sprawling to the ground.
"Wow, this is going to be harder than I thought," thought the underestimating centaur, "This guy looks pretty powerful."
Eyes glowing, Kain jumped 70 feet into the air and started to send a machine gun like spread of fireballs on to his opponents killing many of them. As he fell back down to the earth he had to dodge the onslaught of fireballs being thrown at him from everyone in Montaro's squad who hadn't been hit. Impossible to dodge all the fireballs, he was hit in the chest by a large fireball and thrown into a nearby building.
"Yes!" Happily yelled Montaro as he saw this happen. "I've got that little fucker now! Troops move in and finish him off!"
As he watched his troops go in, he was surprised not to hear any fighting. Just as he was going to go and do it himself, he felt the ground start to rumble. He was startled to see the fugitive jump from the underground tunnel he had blasted from within the building. And before Montaro could stop him he was forced to watch him freeze the whole building and blow it up with powerful beam of pure energy.
"No!!!" Screamed Montaro as he saw and felt half of his army fly everywhere in a downpour of millions glittering pieces of ice. "Kill him," he screamed in absolute rage.
"Kill him!!"
