Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat
Chapter #5
Fists of Rage
Shao Kahn's Castle, Outworld
Zangief slammed into the wall and fell to the floor. He picked himself up and looked around. Suddenly, he was doubled over by a kick, and slammed into the ground by his invisible opponent. Everyone could hear the slithering laughter as Zangief slowly picked himself off the ground. Reptile uncloaked his invincibility and faced his opponent one on one. Zangief swung at his opponent the best he could, but Reptile's speed was too great. He blocked and maneuvered through all Zangief's powerful attacks.
As Zangief's attacks slowed, the green ninja took his opportunity and jump kicked Zangief in the stomach. He then ran forward a few steps and back flipped on Zangief's back, knocking him to the ground. He then picked up the, 6' 7'' Russian wrestler, by the neck and threw him high into the air. As the bloody wrestler fell back towards the ground Reptile powered up. Drawing his strength from the ground he was engulfed in a powerful green glow. He closed his eyes and stood waiting for Zangief. As Zangief fell within range, Reptile did a 720 degree butterfly kick into Zangief's back. Everyone watched Zangief fly through the wall on the other side of the room.
All of Shao Kahn's minions clapped for the good battle. Reptile bowed and was about to sit down with the rest of the group until Zangief jumped out of the debris and charged Reptile full of adrenaline and hate. Reptile stopped walking and waited. Zangief, powering up, started glowing an orange color and his speed increased. Reptile did a jump reverse side kick and hit him into another wall, cracking it.
As Zangief sat bloody and unconscious Shao Kahn boomed over all the jeers of his minions, "Finish Him!"
Reptile walked over to the beaten wrestler and laughed his wicked slithery laughter. As he faced Zangief he spoke, "You idiot. Did you really think you had a chance againssssst me? Huh?"
He then took off his mask and revealed his face. Instead of having a human face his was the face of a reptile. His tongue slithered out of his mouth tasting the air. Zangief screamed as Reptile regurgitated green acid covering his body. Shao Kahn smiled as Zangief's body melted away into nothing. Shang Suang walked out and faced Zangief's dead carcass. He put out his hand towards it as it started glowing. Everyone watched as Zangief'' screaming soul was extracted from his body and into Shang Suang eyes. Reptile put on his mask and joined his comrades. Shao Kahn looked around, "Who's next?"
Raiden's Realm-Battlefield
"Jump!" Yelled Lou Kang as the mob of ninjas moved in. As Ryu and Ken jumped, Lou Kang spun in a circle shooting out his fireballs at their amazing speed. The fireballs blasted into the nearest ninjas opening the circle wider. As Ryu and Ken landed they did a hurricane kick knocking the ninjas back further.
The front row of ninjas bowed as the ninjas behind them did a jump kick over them, which hit the group of heroes. As they hit the ground Ryu, Ken and Lou Kang were amazed at their new strength that they possessed, as the assault barely phased them. They kiped up to their feet ready to fight. To the heroes' surprise, they were moving so fast, it seemed the ninjas were moving in slow motion.
For hours they battled hard as they could, but the shear number of opponents they had, still had the upper hand. No matter how much they fought there was a ninja always there to knock them to the ground.
Suddenly, all the ninjas took to the air. The heroes' looked around exhausted from the hours of fighting. As they scanned the ground, they saw that they had beaten away half of the army. As they looked for the remainder in the sky, they were met with horror. All of them were powering up for lightning bursts!
Ken screamed, "Run!" As the three of them scattered around as the bursts started simultaneously. Ryu ran as fast as he could as the lightning bursts flew around him. He dived underneath an overhanging rock ridge as lightning bursts hit it. He was safe for a moment but he knew he only had a couple of minutes before the ridge collapsed. He had to collect his strength and air for the battle that would ensue.
Lou Kang ran for cover. He dived into a nearby cave as lightning hit the ground behind him.
Suddenly, a loud laughter filled the cave as Lou Kang kneeled to rest. "Get over here!"
As Lou Kang jumped to the air, a snake like animal hit the ground where he was. He ran to the wall as the creature came after him. Lou Kang ran to the wall and did a back flip off of it as the snake-like spear ran into it. Lou Kang kicked the creature's head into the rock wall, trapping it.
He suddenly felt heat, and as he turned to the deepest part of the cave, he saw a fireball heading for him. He dived out of the way just in time for the fireball to miss and hit the wall. He got up just in time to see a yellow ninja jump kick him right out of the cave. As he hit the ground on the outside of the cave, lightning bursts immediately started hitting and electrocuting him. The pain was unbearable, the worst he had ever felt before. On the account of a lightning bolt hitting him directly in the back, Lou Kang was blasted back into the cave. As he hit the ground he looked up to see an angry and waiting yellow ninja, Scorpion.
Ken had taken the offensive. He had run and jumped onto a mountain and done a Shoryuken Uppercut into the air. As he had hoped, the lightning bolts couldn't hurt him while in the super Uppercut. He slammed into the white ninjas, instantly inflaming all he came near. He then wildly threw the biggest fireball he could into the mass of floating ninjas knocking them all out of the air and to the ground. Ken screamed as he too helplessly plunged hundreds of feet to his death.
As the fireballs stopped, Ryu burst through the ridge to see his best friend falling to his death. He then shot a super fireball into the ground for extra height on his rescue. He flew through the air to Ken's aid. As he grabbed his friend on mid-flight he asked, "Why am I always saving you?"
"Thanks," said Ken as they landed on a mountain.
"Come on Ken," winked Ryu, "lets do it together."
They both shot their biggest fireball they had ever thrown and as the fireballs flew quickly through the air, they merged together and it became enormous. The fireball slammed into the remaining ninjas so hard the whole realm shook. The shock wave and the debris knocked Ryu and Ken to the ground.
Ken was coughing from the dust cloud still hanging in the air. "Nothing could have survived that!"
As they peered over the ridge in the mountain and the cloud disappeared, they were surprised to see the ninjas scattered on the ground starting to glow. They started to spin and spin until they were high in the air. Suddenly, there was a burst of energy and the entire sky was filled with a white glow. From the center of the glow Ken and Ryu were amazed to see two ninjas slowly floating to the ground. One was blue and the other was red.
The blue ninja called to the two men, "Ryu and Ken, come face your doom, Sub-Zero and Ermac!"
The Other Side of the Portal
"Get down!" Yelled Sonya as right out of the portal they were ambushed. The Earth Strike Force was forced to run and dive under an overturned table as fireballs flew around their unprotected bodies. The un-expectancy of the attack had them already pinned. The blasts of the evil army stopped as their new chief welcomed the guests, "Welcome to the Outworld, earthlings. Hey is that you Sonya? Wow, I never thought the military would let a bitch like you come here. Hey, how's Balrog doing? Ha, ha, ha!"
Sonya knew who the voice belonged to, "Kano!! You bastard!!"
As he walked out of the shadows Guile saw him for the first time. He had about Guile's build, dark brown hair and was wearing a black karate like military uniform. The distinguishing trait of him was his glowing red replacement visor over his left eye.
"Kano how's your eye doing?" yelled Jax as he saw him.
Kano blasted at the table with a pulse gun. "Jax!! You're going to pay for my eye!! I'm going to slowly kill you with my old trusty here." Kano took out his two trademark knives and swung them around with skill.
Dee Jay asked his leader, "How are we going to get out of here Sonya?"
Sonya smiled.
Kano called out to Sonya but she wouldn't answer. As his next reply wasn't met with an answer he became worried. He signaled for his troops to move in. As he watched his troops circle around the table he saw Sonya jump into the air. All of the soldiers instinctively raised their arms or rifles to shoot at her. Just then Guile, Dee Jay, and Jax shot their ki at the table which knocked it into the army.
While Guile and Dee Jay held the fire off of Sonya, she was on the ceiling rafters punching through the ceiling and making an escape route. At the same time Jax was slamming his metal fists into the ground making another exit. As all of their watches timers went off simultaneously they dived into an escape hole. Dee Jay jumped into Sonya's ceiling hole while Guile joined Jax. As Jax jumped through his hole he threw a bomb that he had surgically implanted in his metal arms into the room.
Kano jumped out of the nearest window as he saw them leave the room. Falling down through the air he felt the bomb go off. The flames ate at his clothing but as he landed into the strategically planned lake, he knew he was safe. But he also knew with this mistake, Shao Kahn would not be very happy.
Raiden's Realm-Battlefield
"Scorpion?" Was all Lou Kang could say before the ninja started to stomp him. As Lou Kang fought to get up, he wished to be fighting Johnny Cage or Fei Long again. This was literally killing him. As a powerful burst hit the ground and shook the realm, Lou Kang took the advantage.
He kipped to his feet and shot a fireball knocking Scorpion to the ground. As Scorpion flipped up Lou Kang dragon kicked him into the cave wall. Scorpion teleported off the wall as Lou Kang kicked into it. As he was behind him he kicked Lou in the knee and then to his face. He slammed Kang's face into he cave wall repeatedly and strangled him with his snake-like spear still wiggling form where Kang had kicked it.
As the bloodied Lou Kang was growing faint, he kicked the ninja between the legs. The ninja looked at him and shook his finger as a no-no statement. He then picked up Lou Kang and uppercutted him into the dark region of the cave.
Lou Kang slammed into the wall tasting his own blood. As he felt his head he felt that Scorpion had done some real damage. He was fast and strong. His hits took a lot out of Kang. The pain was immense and he knew that he should have broken bones and concusions but he otherwise felt ok. But he also knew that Scorpion would kill him if he didn't take the offensive soon.
As Scorpion ran to meet his foe, he was met with a bicycle kick to his face knocking him to the ground. As he kipped up, Lou Kang spin kicked him in the face, which dazed him. Lou Kang then uppercutted him so hard it slammed his body into this roof of the cave.
As he looked up, he saw that Scorpion had landed on an upper ridge of the cave and jump kicked down at him. Lou Kang back flipped out of the way just in time to dodge the attack, and as he fell back to the ground Kang shot five fireballs hitting Scorpion into the wall again. As Scorpion hit the wall he started to power up. He sucked the power out the ground and started to glow a yellow color.
"Great," said Lou Kang as he saw Scorpion power up, "He's just started."
Ryu and Ken jumped off the mountain to meet their foes. As they walked around each other they studied each other's attributes. Ken said, "I want the blue one, he doesn't look so tough. Besides that's my favorite color."
The ninjas looked at each other and jump kicked the heroes' to the ground. Ryu flipped up and punched at the red ninja, Ermac. Ermac teleported behind him and used his elevation ability on Ryu, raising him helplessly into the air. As Ryu hung in the air Ermac shot a green fireball into him. As it hit him, instead of feeling extreme pain, he felt nothing. As he let out his air he found that he couldn't breathe! Ryu twisted and fought to breathe as Ermac started laughing and stuck out his arm. Ryu was helpless as Ermac suddenly twitched his hand up and down and sent Ryu repeatedly crashing into the ground.
Ken wasn't doing any better. Not only was the ninja beating the hell out of him, he kept on freezing him in mid-fight. Every time Ken started to get the upper hand, the ninja would shoot a blue beam at him encasing him in rock hard, ice. He would then walk up to his helpless opponent and uppercut him in the air breaking his ice prison into a thousand pieces.
On such an occasion, Ken hit the ground and looked over at Ryu to see how he was doing. He saw Ryu being slammed into the ground over and over again by the red ninja Ermac. Upon closer investigation he saw that Ryu's eyes were closed! In the middle of his fight he shot a fireball at Ermac hitting him and knocking him to the ground.
Ryu fell to the ground beaten down, bleeding and gasping for air. He had passed out from lack of oxygen and was just waking up, dazed. Suddenly, as he saw Ermac standing over him, he shot an enormous fireball at Ermac knocking him high into the air. As he looked at Ken he saw that he was bleeding badly from the punishment that Sub-Zero was giving him.
Ryu jumped through the air, jump kicking Sub-Zero to the ground, and smashing the ice prison that held Ken. Suddenly, there was a large slam, without looking, Ryu knew that it was Ermac hitting the ground. Ryu and Ken stood tall and faced Sub-Zero and Ermac as the ninjas picked themselves up and started to power up.
Ken looked at Ryu and asked, "Where's Lou Kang when you need him?"
"Where's Ken and Ryu when you need them?" thought Lou Kang aloud as Scorpion faced him. He was still glowing the yellow color and his eyes were now red.
"Get back here," yelled Scorpion as his spear flew out the rock and into his hand. Lou Kang quivered at the new sound of Scorpion's voice. Before it sounded human but now it sounded like something else, something more animal like, more evil. As he stood tall in his yellow and black ninja armor Lou Kang knew he needed help. He knew that there was no way that he could take this guy by himself. As he backed up away from the super-powerful ninja he knew he needed to find Ken and Ryu to help him.
Lou Kang quickly ran for his comrades only to see that they had their hands full. Ken looked at Lou Kang and then at Scorpion, "Great, you brought another one!"
As the three hurt and beaten heroes lined up and faced the three super-powered ninjas, things were looking bleak. "What the hell are we going to do now?"
Quick as lightning Raiden appeared between the ninjas and the heroes. The ninjas froze solid as Raiden appeared. "Raiden!", the three warriors called out at the same time.
Lou Kang spoke, "Are you going to help us Raiden? Because we could sure use it!" Ken and Ryu nodded in agreement.
"I can't. These ninja's aren't my creation. They came from the Outworld. Shao Kahn must have sent them."
They all groaned. Ryu looked at Raiden, "Can't you do something and kick these guys out or something! Our practice has turned into a streetfight! I mean without Ken I would have died!"
Raiden nodded, "That's exactly what you needed to learn. As individuals you can be beaten. But together you are unstoppable. Look what this fight has taught you: Ryu you needed Ken to survive, Ken you needed Ryu, and Lou Kang you needed both of them. The lesson was none of you can survive this war against good or evil, alone."
Lou Kang asked confused, "When did I need them?"
"Remember the big boom when the whole realm moved? That was Ken and Ryu's fireball."
"Yeah, I remember I was finished until that big boom got me to my feet."
"How did they get here?" asked Ken. As he looked at the frozen ninjas he asked hopefully, "can you send them away?"
"No," spoke Raiden, "I can't. They got there through a portal that we need to go through. If I send them through it, it will close and we will have no chance in competing for Earth in Mortal Kombat. Shao Kahn will win. The only way you guys can win this fight is to learn a new skill, the act of powering up."
Ryu looked at the ninjas, "Yeah, they did that glowing thing. It looks the little damage me and Ken did to them is gone and their power looks like it increased by 100 percent!"
Raiden answered, "The ninjas you are fighting may have different attacks than you but having the ability to power up will almost always even up any fight. When you power up you are using all the power your body can sustain. You have increased speed, power, senses, endurance, and intelligence. The results of powering up are remarkable, but with every great power there is a downside."
Ken wasn't surprised, "Yes, the famous golden rule. Of course you can have unlimited power but you can't use it all right?"
"No," answered Raiden, "If you exhaust all your power, you will go as you were before you powered up. The downside I was going to mention was that you don't automatically power up, you do it yourself. So, if you power up too much, your power becomes more than your body can handle and...."
"And what?"
Raiden looked at all of them with a seriousness that was not to be taken lightly, "Your body explodes."
"What!" spoke a surprised Lou Kang, "And I suppose you want me to do this power up thing, huh? Raiden, I would rather die a death were I go down fighting rather than to blow myself up."
"It is a valuable tool only to be used only when necessary. You will easily be able to tell when you are full of power; your muscles will become larger while your eyes will glow with power. Taking in any more beyond this point will be dangerous."
Ryu spoke, "Ok Raiden, but how do we do it?"
"Close your eyes and look at your ki you enlarged when meditating. Feel the power around you, the trees, the sky, the water, and the earth. They all are full of ki. Now suck them all in, feel the ki inside you growing. Keep doing this until you feel your muscles grow bigger and then open your eyes. You will experience the world in a new more powerful light."
Ken shrugged, "That's it?"
Raiden looked at him and nodded. The god of thunder then turned his attention back to the beaten down warriors, "Good luck."
Raiden then vanished high into the air with the sound of thunder and a trail of electricity flowing in the spot he was standing. The warriors looked at each other. Ryu shook his head, "At least we got to rest."
Just then the ninjas unfroze. Ermac spoke, "Prepare to die!"
Ken looked at his super-powerful opponents now in a new light. "No," he said as the clouds started to grow dark and settle above them, "you prepare to die!"
